Admin session issue
« on: January 24, 2014, 09:40:59 AM »
This is an other one really bugging me and I cannot figure out how to fix it!
I am annoyed that even if not active only for a few minutes (5 to 10 maybe) I am asked to log back in!
I tried setting the session value to as high as 12000 in admin > system > system > "Control Panel Session Expiration:" but to no avail ! Nothing changed, the behaviour remains the same no matter what I enter in that box.

Anyone knows how to fix? Thx

There may be an upper limit. I have mine set to 360 (4 hours) and it seems to work fine.

Hey Gordon - just going to "fun" you a bit - That must be a New York Minute - they are suppose to be faster.  My elementary math says 360 minutes is really 6 hours. ;D

But to the point Cookie,  I think Gordon is right - there may be a limit or a field size that is causing your issue.  I have mine set for 120, (2 hours) and it works just fine.

Cheers everyone!
Lee

@Lee....thanks! I was horrible with math!

@Cookie...seems like there might be something wrong with your install. Works like a charm for me.

What version are you running?

I'm having the same issue with a fresh install.

Did you find a fix?
I really like everything I see with this package and kept dealing with the log in issue all night.

@oralaorg...have you checked your settings in the Admin Panel?

System>settings

There is a place to set the minutes of idle before log out.

Yes thank you.
This appears to be something else that forces me to re-login with no apparent pattern related to timing or which button I push. I can work for 2 minutes or 30 seconds, then poof, asked to login.

My hosting provider has been trying to help with this all day.

Their last tweek left me with this warning at top of all pages now:

warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: open(/home/oralaorg/public_html/session/sess_85150d0e6077cfa766e8ee68f2c38f57, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13) in /home/oralaorg/public_html/registration/core/init.php on line 103warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cookie - headers already sent by (output started at /home/oralaorg/public_html/registration/core/lib/error.php:99) in /home/oralaorg/public_html/registration/core/init.php on line 103warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent (output started at /home/oralaorg/public_html/registration/core/lib/error.php:99) in /home/oralaorg/public_html/registration/core/init.php on line 103

Getting bummed. This looks like a great product and I want to see it work but time constraints are coming into play now.

Sounds like you have permissions not set correctly on various folders.

Go into your cPanel and set permissions to 777 on the following folders:

image
downloads
extensions
system

This will give read/write/execution permissions to those folders....that error should go away and perhaps things will work better.

Thank you for the feedback.

The installer and I appear to have done everything proper.
Nice work on that part folks.  :)

My hosting provider found a solution finally (over my head) and I have been able to work for about 1/2 hour so far. Damn nice package. Now to find out if it can do what I need.

For some reason, some hosting companies have issues...but I'm glad your problem was solved.
