How to remove "Specials" from the headerstrip?

It is located at the most top of the store. How do I remove it? My homepage layout is using default_html5. I followed the advice given by the link below but no effect. Please help, thank you.

If  you simply want to turn it off, just go into layout for the homepage, find it in the middle of the page, and set that drop down menu to -none-

I think the layout you said is meant for the content. The headerstrip would be the one beside the storefront logo. It is possible to edit it manually in the default_html5 directory since i am using it as my home page template? However I tried that and nothing works. Thanks again.

p.s: I am using xampp to simulate the storefront.

Sorry, misunderstood which specials you wanted to turn off.

Here is the path.

Admin Panel>design>menu

You'll see a list of menu items, you can't turn it off, but you can delete it from the list and change the sort order.

You can also edit the ones you want to keep, change the wording or even create a new menu item.
