SEO - index page not working

i use the SEO built in features for all my products and categories but the index page always shows

   localhost/index.php?rt=index/home

is there anyways i can change this to

   localhost/home

Probably, you did not change .htaccess as instructed.

The SEO works on every other page on the website except the home page

 I've checked the .htaccess file a few times it is spot on to the manual and the rewrite mod is on.

it is the index page and the register login page that still show the the full link
