Possible to integrate abantecart into existing site?
« on: August 25, 2015, 05:38:37 PM »
I have an existing website in php/html5/js and was looking around if it's possible to integrate the ecommerce/shopping cart/admin aspect of AbanteCart into the site without having to use the templates or whatever preexisting layouts? I have looked around and found no such guides existing or if its even possible to reasonable wade through the code and integrate it

From the latest version patch note:
New Features and improvements highlight
Easy embed codes to integrate AbanteCart into any existing website.

Where is it documented on how to use this or anything else on this feature?

Mainly wondering, is there any such guides/ is it not extremely time consuming to integrate this into an existing website without changing any of the existing current look and feel of it?

1. on your AbanteCart admin-side go to menu system->settings->General and check setting "Enable Storefront Embed". Turn it to ON.
2. Open product edit page via menu catalog->products and click "share" button at the right of heading (under tabs). In opened Modal tune your html- code for embedding.
3. Go to your existing site and paste code there

Does this sort of embedding require you to have a separate existing AbanteCart store page created?

Mainly wondering if I have to create a separate page for it, would it not get indexed also, or is it possible to keep it non-indexable and still have the possibility for it to get embedded in my actual page?

Or is it possible to install the cart somewhere without the template front-ends somewhere and be able to embed that way?

Hello.

You can install AbanteCart somewhere and then embed products on your html page or blog.
If you want to disable AbanteCart from search engine crawl you can disable them in robots.txt

Thank you this was all very helpful, one last question, as the store is hidden from indexing, do any of the SEO options do anything?
I'm fine with either way just curious if they do or not

I also have 2 sites written in php/html5/js that are host on a Small Orange Linux server and have a very old shopping cart and I want to upgrade ONLY the shopping cart functionality (add-to-cart, select options, etc.) in all of my pages. Please See Attachment. I don't need to show an image or description for the product. I just need to display the various product attributes and options and have them "tied" or integrated with the shopping cart and back-end order management system.

Is this possible with AbanteCart ?

I have a Linux based Hostgator account also. Can I install AbanteCart on it and use the embed codes in one of my existing pages to test it out before moving my sites from A Small Orange?

Also, I process my orders on my sites manually. I don't believe I need a gateway. Can AbanteCart be setup to take and order and put it in my back-end office for me to process manually using the customers billing/shipping and credit card information (including credit card security code) ?

Also, what is a good, fast reliable host to install AbanteCart & my sites on? I looked at A2 hosting at but I'm not familiar with this host but they look good.

Thanks in advance,
Glenn
