500 server error
« on: May 26, 2016, 12:37:57 PM »
Hi I had this running properly a while back but then it suddenly stopped working and just gave me:
"Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@uncoolthreads-co-uk.helpandinfo.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

I contacted the webhost (hostmonster.com) and they said there appeared to be some problem with the index.php file. They said they didn't support scripting problems so that was that..

I decided to delete all the files and start again so I did that - I then chmoded all the files to 777 that needed it according to the instructions. I then went to load the site in firefox to install it to the database and just got the error above..

My hostmonster won't help so can abantecart please? As I said I had this system working once so I don't understand why this should suddenly happen.

Some server information:
cPanel   11.52.6
Apache   2.2.31
PHP   5.4.24
MySQL   5.5.42
Perl   5.10.1

Please help..
Thanks
Russ

1. sign in into your hosting provider CPanel
2. open fileManager
3. choose your public_html/index.php file and set permissions to 444 (read-read-read)

Thanks - I tried this but it made no difference..

I also tried the suggestion after:
"This also can be mod_secure issue on your server http://docs.abantecart.com/pages/tips/troubleshooting.html#mod_security"

I added: </IfModule>
<IfModule mod_security.c>
SecFilterInheritance Off
</IfModule>

to the .htaccess file but again it made no difference..

Here's the URL if it helps: http://www.uncoolthreads.co.uk

Please Help Guys - really need help here.. :'(

try to open httpd error log inside CPanel. Usually 500 error writes into it.

Thanks for your help..

I am on shared hosting with Hostmonster.com.

There doesn't seem to be a separate http error log. There is an icon saying 'Error Logs' This leads to a page which shows Every error on the server including other people's accounts. There don't seem to be any errors related to My ip address on this page.

Your problem is this:
Wed Jun 01 07:09:58 2016] [error] [client 92.28.114.196] Failed loading /usr/lib64/php/modules/ioncube_loader_lin.so:  /usr/lib64/php/modules/ioncube_loader_lin.so: undefined symbol: execute

There  is an issue with your PHP installation. You need to check with your hosting provider.

I MANAGED TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE MYSELF so I'll post what I did here to help anybody else with similar problems.

The problem was that IONCUBE wasn't installed properly on the account. This is developers protection software but the good news is you can enable it yourself by following these instructions:

https://my.hostmonster.com/cgi/help/149

Thanks to the nice people that tried to help me :-)
