Problems on new installation (third time) on checkout no country in the list

Hi, i'm quite in love with AbanteCart, really a great product ...BUT.... i'm getting nuts for the third time today.
On a fresh installation, leaving all English and just changing the storefront language to Italian and trying to checkout as a Guest i can't choose my country anymore because it
shows Zimbabwe and whn i go back to the store settings there i find Zimbabwe too and not the previous settings i had put.
Why is this happening?
How can i get rid of this problem?
Why do pages get 404 error if i enable SEO?
How can i translate all the latest version in Italian (the actual latest Italian Extension has many missing parts and many incorrect translations!) ?

PS: I'm a programmer and IT Specialist, my installation is a fresh one in the root, i have no extensions installed.

If i go back to Localization -> languages and disable Italian and save, then i can see the list of countries in the store Detail and choose my country again.
Seems the problem is related to enabling Italian language in the localization -> languages
Any idea?

AbanteCart contains 2 parts to language translation.

1. Language text definitions used on the site
2. Data related texts that are language specific.

Then you load and enable new language you enable #1, but your products, categories, countries, zones, etc do not have translations.
These are in #2.

AbanteCart has a facility to populate language data with copy from any other languages (English by default) or auto translate if you have translating service connected.

You can do this in language edit section and it is called "Load missing language data"

I've found some errors in translation how can i modify thes errors?
Where exactly do i have to go for modifying based on the two types you described?
Is there a search feature in order to search the wrong translated word and modify it without having to browse all words?
Will these translations disappear when i update to a newer version?

Hello. Once you install language extension you can modify text in System > Localization > Language Definitions http://docs.abantecart.com/pages/localization/language_definitions.html

You can search definitions by key or by translation text on same page.
Please not if you want to share your translation you need to modify language.xml files inside your language extension

Thanks alot for your kind reply, i figured out alone before reading your reply but thanks anyways.
Just one more question : i'm having problems right now with the paypal and weight based shipping extensions.
If the storefront language is in English all works fine, but if i choose italian it still works fine but the page displays text_title on both sections of the two extensions ...please see attached picture (english version ok, italian version not ok).
I searched in the language definitions and also in some files of these specific extensions but can't find where to place the italian translation, can you help?

You can fix this manually in the Language Definitions section look for block:default_pp_standart_default_pp_standart  key:text_title

Thanks bud, you directed me in the right direction!
PayPal strangely was ok without doing anything when i went to look and now shows on correctley but the shipping one is still wrong and can't find it.
I did search the text_title over all languages and translated them but still showing the same.
Also cancelled cache of browser and thru the website feature of abantecart
Any clues?

Double check that you clear AbanteCart cache Admin >System > Cache
for the Weight based shipping it stored language definitions with block:default_weight_default_weight

I did that already. Yesterday i manages to fix the problem. I went in the extension folder and cloned the spanish language folder to italian (it was missing).
Then i opened the file inside that Italian folder and wrote in Italian the message that i found in spanish.
I was so able to get it working and find the words in the language definitions.
