PayPal Pro Not Working
« on: April 26, 2017, 02:48:12 PM »
I am trying to setup PayPal Payments Pro. I have a PayPal Business Account. I click the Get Your Sandbox API Credentials, and I copy-paste the User Pass Sig. Then I put them into the fields, and Test Mode is on. I click Test, and it says:

PayPal Error: Security header is not valid. Please check your API Credentials and try again. Also please note that Test mode is ON!

My site has a SHA256 cert on it. What is happening?

Is your certificate self signed? Do you see https when you test? Paypal does not like that connection is not secure.

It is not self-signed. I will say it's the servers shared free SSL cert but it is SHA256 with RSA. I do have my own cert but it is not for this domain and I don't want to buy another just for testing.

Under System-Store Details I did not have Use SSL on, so I turned it on. I also put the Secure Store URL on, which was the same except https.

Then I resigned on using https://....index.php?s=... and so I was in the admin as https. I went to Extensions-Payments-PayPal Payments Pro and everything was the same, and the page was listed https:// but with the lock with the yellow exclamation mark - "Parts of this page are not secure such as images" which is normal. I clicked TEST and I got the same message.

This is with Firefox the latest on Win7, all cookies enabled and nothing special set.

Hello.
Generally this error means you are not using the correct API credentials.  Take a note in PayPal sandbox account in the API details you should activate PRO

Right now PayPal (wonderful people that they are) are having troubles with that area so I gotta wait for them (zzzz)

AbanteCart should correct the Extension page, I always have had a Business Account with PayPal. It needs to say (at least according to you) "PayPal Developers Business-Pro Sandbox Account". I hope that's the way forward. I'll see, as soon as PayPal grows up.

For as exacting that programmers have to be, it always makes me wonder why the actual SOFTWARE isn't as exacting.

Unfortunately, I may have to abandon AbanteCart anyway because there's no PayFlow Pro module, and that's what I use. I have to say I'm really impressed with Shopify, though it's a completely managed solution. But for all the osCommerce and installing web cart problems that go on and on and on and on, the managed solution looks pretty darn good. Sheez, getting basic USPS First Class Package service with AbanteCart doesn't work.

PayPal Technical Support never got back to me, and I couldn't log into their tech web site - kept kicking me out.

Since AbanteCart doesn't support PayFlow (which I use) and that First Class Package is not supported yet, AbanteCart is a dead end for me. I've gotten into Shopify with their free trial, and I'm surprised - I sort of like it. It's completely managed - everything works (yeah). The rates are even lower than PayFlow-Evalon (which is what I used to use), and I don't have to worry about a gateway and a processor; they do both - and even PayPal - and it all works instead of me having to post 5-6 emails about "why doesn't this work?"

No more PCI Compliance surveys and extra charges. Plus, again, PayFlow is owned by PayPal and it's nice to not have to send PayPal any money anymore. I hope all you people know that PayPal is simply a Brussels-based international bank that doesn't have to abide by the business- and customer- regulations that US banks have to abide by.

I really like DIY, but it's got to end somewhere. It's disappointing to download stuff that either doesn't work or is incomplete out of the box. AbanteCart looks a lot better than osCommerce, which is true torture for just about everyone and anyone. I used it for about a decade, and only because once I got it working (and almost died trying), it worked for many years as long as I didn't touch it. Two weeks ago my hoster updated their PHP and gave my osCommerce install a deathblow, so I've tried some other open-source carts and it's just memories of osCommerce hell. Shopify seems to work really well and truthfully, they can have all the hassles. I don't want them anymore.

Shopify is a good solution, but it is not comparable with AbanteCart. With AbanteCart you get full control ownership and freedom of expansion.

As for missing support for PayFlow, it is just a matter of time. It is apparent that AbanteCart does not have financial support of big corporation and make things work for as many users as possible. With help of third party developers or some financial support from users, we will get PayFlow one day.

I totally understand, like I said, I favor DIY. VISA Corp. sank a pile of money into Shopify, and it shows.

But while AbanteCart and Shopify aren't comparable in their MECHANICS, they do completely compare in that they are supposed to perform the same function.

My point was basic functionality out of the box without having to guess "what's wrong?", which AbanteCart seems a lot closer than osCommerce (and osC has no excuse being as bad as they are). My PayPal issue isn't your fault and you can't do anything about (although I would suggest changing the PayPal Pro payments text to "requires a Business account with Business-Pro credentials")

Take Shopify as a challenge to provide out-of-the-box functionality as a direct competitor. I'm a long-time app developer and I had to learn that every reported problem has to be seen as a chance to make your software better.
