Generating a SEO url when products are inserted would take a few microseconds - why do we need to use an external extension which takes hours to process the all the products?

When we opt to use SEO urls in settings all the new items inserted should automatically have SEO urls. This will generate consistent urls which always work, unlike the ones produced by the "SEO URLS" extensions which are quite unreliable.

Is there any way to force the system to generate a seo url at the time of inserting an item?

You do not need external extension.

SEO URL (keyword) indeed created (generated) for new product. You can also click the button to generate keyword when you are creating / editing the product .

See this for product for example. Similar is for category, content and manufacturer

If you use import csv to upload the products then SEO are not generated. That is why you need to use
the SEO extension.

Thank you for pointing this out.
We where considering to generate automaric SEO URL on import, but this is way to risky in case of duplicates, unexpected results and complains.

There is a field that you can provided in the import for SEO keyword.
Using Excel you can generate it before import.

I do not think we need to do anything here.

When you import yo can add a seo keyword with your import to skip any extensions or generations
