When you have multiply languages enabled you have to fill all descriptions in both languages.
AbanteCart have a feature to auto fill others languages if you edit primary see https://abantecart.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/AD/pages/6651915/Translation+settings#Translationsettings-Overrideifsourcelanguagetextwaschanged
