According to the GitHub posting it seems to have been fixed in early May. Perhaps you are running older software and need the revision(s) after that time period.

I totally understand, like I said, I favor DIY. VISA Corp. sank a pile of money into Shopify, and it shows.

But while AbanteCart and Shopify aren't comparable in their MECHANICS, they do completely compare in that they are supposed to perform the same function.

My point was basic functionality out of the box without having to guess "what's wrong?", which AbanteCart seems a lot closer than osCommerce (and osC has no excuse being as bad as they are). My PayPal issue isn't your fault and you can't do anything about (although I would suggest changing the PayPal Pro payments text to "requires a Business account with Business-Pro credentials")

Take Shopify as a challenge to provide out-of-the-box functionality as a direct competitor. I'm a long-time app developer and I had to learn that every reported problem has to be seen as a chance to make your software better.

PayPal Technical Support never got back to me, and I couldn't log into their tech web site - kept kicking me out.

Since AbanteCart doesn't support PayFlow (which I use) and that First Class Package is not supported yet, AbanteCart is a dead end for me. I've gotten into Shopify with their free trial, and I'm surprised - I sort of like it. It's completely managed - everything works (yeah). The rates are even lower than PayFlow-Evalon (which is what I used to use), and I don't have to worry about a gateway and a processor; they do both - and even PayPal - and it all works instead of me having to post 5-6 emails about "why doesn't this work?"

No more PCI Compliance surveys and extra charges. Plus, again, PayFlow is owned by PayPal and it's nice to not have to send PayPal any money anymore. I hope all you people know that PayPal is simply a Brussels-based international bank that doesn't have to abide by the business- and customer- regulations that US banks have to abide by.

I really like DIY, but it's got to end somewhere. It's disappointing to download stuff that either doesn't work or is incomplete out of the box. AbanteCart looks a lot better than osCommerce, which is true torture for just about everyone and anyone. I used it for about a decade, and only because once I got it working (and almost died trying), it worked for many years as long as I didn't touch it. Two weeks ago my hoster updated their PHP and gave my osCommerce install a deathblow, so I've tried some other open-source carts and it's just memories of osCommerce hell. Shopify seems to work really well and truthfully, they can have all the hassles. I don't want them anymore.

Yes, that's true about free or flat-rate shipping. But even so, First-Class shipping is still highly popular, top 3. Sorry for complaining, but it really is a true question.

The reason I do shipping variances is because I'm selling equally to US, Canada, and International, and the rates are quite different for a 6oz package. If I ate the shipping, it's highly unfair to certain people and too fair for others. Flat rate for many shopping carts isn't separable with where the package goes, so it's the same problem.

Thanks for considering it. (Like I said, I just don't understand how this wasn't noted before, it's the 2nd most common shipping option. It's like a grocery store opening and not stocking milk.)

When you said "Code Update Here" do you mean on this forum thread? If not, how would I know? I can't use the cart until then, all my packages go First Class Mail Parcel.

Makes sense about the attachments.

Thanks for your attention.

Please read my previous posts - I am a experienced shipper. Please read my posts carefully, I didn't write them out of ignorance.

You are confusing Letter rate and Package rate. First Class Package rate applies to 1-15 oz (actually 16, but let's skip that), not 3.5oz.

To show this, go to USPS web site, do Mail+Ship/Calculate Price. Do United States, put in two different zip codes, then click "Calculate price based on Shape and Size". Enter 0 pounds, 6 ounces, and click PACKAGE (not letter). You'll get many options, including this one, which is what AbanteCart should be supporting. It's called First-Class Mail Parcel, at least nowadays.

It's surprising to me why this is overlooked, as most small businesses ship this way, although First-Class may be a second to Priority Mail Flat Rate or Regional Rate A.

I couldn't attach anything (?), why does the forum allow me to try? How did you do it (guess you are a moderator). View it at chickensys DOT com SLASH bin SLASH firstclassparcel.png

Right now PayPal (wonderful people that they are) are having troubles with that area so I gotta wait for them (zzzz)

AbanteCart should correct the Extension page, I always have had a Business Account with PayPal. It needs to say (at least according to you) "PayPal Developers Business-Pro Sandbox Account". I hope that's the way forward. I'll see, as soon as PayPal grows up.

For as exacting that programmers have to be, it always makes me wonder why the actual SOFTWARE isn't as exacting.

Unfortunately, I may have to abandon AbanteCart anyway because there's no PayFlow Pro module, and that's what I use. I have to say I'm really impressed with Shopify, though it's a completely managed solution. But for all the osCommerce and installing web cart problems that go on and on and on and on, the managed solution looks pretty darn good. Sheez, getting basic USPS First Class Package service with AbanteCart doesn't work.

The answer is no, then. Does anyone know if there is one planned; heard anything?

I did. The first post show the exact measurements and the exact weight. Please reference it.

I'm not sure what to "play around with" - exact is exact. If I give those things another value, it just makes the weight/size wrong, creating another problem.

What about your cart? It seems any business (surely) is going to have a 6oz-ish - the range is 1-15oz nowadays - of First-Class package or thick envelope support. Most items need cushioning so bubble/other is needed, thus invalidating any Flat/Envelope rate. To ignore First-Class Package rates is like going to a hamburger place just for the fries.

How does "single envelope" apply to the question - First Class mail applies to envelopes and also flats and parcels. I'm selling stuff and that never needs an envelope, most everything needs a box or a jiffy envelope, which is technically called First-Class Mail/Package/Thick Envelope. For business, this would be by far the most popular. Who sells any tangible thing and sends it out in a flat envelope?

Don't tell me the default_usps Extension doesn't include this!

It is not self-signed. I will say it's the servers shared free SSL cert but it is SHA256 with RSA. I do have my own cert but it is not for this domain and I don't want to buy another just for testing.

Under System-Store Details I did not have Use SSL on, so I turned it on. I also put the Secure Store URL on, which was the same except https.

Then I resigned on using https://....index.php?s=... and so I was in the admin as https. I went to Extensions-Payments-PayPal Payments Pro and everything was the same, and the page was listed https:// but with the lock with the yellow exclamation mark - "Parts of this page are not secure such as images" which is normal. I clicked TEST and I got the same message.

This is with Firefox the latest on Win7, all cookies enabled and nothing special set.

Payment Modules / PayPal Pro Not Working

I am trying to setup PayPal Payments Pro. I have a PayPal Business Account. I click the Get Your Sandbox API Credentials, and I copy-paste the User Pass Sig. Then I put them into the fields, and Test Mode is on. I click Test, and it says:

PayPal Error: Security header is not valid. Please check your API Credentials and try again. Also please note that Test mode is ON!

My site has a SHA256 cert on it. What is happening?

Is there a PayFlow Pro extension available for AbanteCart; and if not, is there any planned?

Shipping Modules / USPS First Class doesn't show
« on: April 26, 2017, 11:30:54 AM »
I am starting my AbanteCart install and setup. I entered one product with the l-w-d 6-3-1, Length Class inch, and the weight 6 with the weight class ounce. In extensions I have the default_usps module, and the weight class is ounce and length class inch also. First Class and Priority Mail are turned on.

When I check out, the USPS options come up, and the weight says 0.37 (which is 6/16 of an ounce), but First Class does not show up, only Priority Mail.

Why doesn't it show up?
