General Support / Changes to menu in order to add new main category
« on: February 05, 2014, 01:13:01 PM »
Greetings - I need to add a new main category to the menu but don't really know how to change the menu to accommodate it as the whole row is full -- I can change font size a little, reduce padding will also help.  I attach a screenshot of the current menu.  Would appreciate some assistance with this and as usual thanks very much.

Basara - which extension do you suggest I discuss customizing - Price Based Shipping or Flexy - both were mentioned in this conversation but you pointed out that Flexy would not work for me as it is -- I will certainly ask about it but which extension are you referring to?

Thanks again for your follow ups - much appreciated
Ron

yup - here's screenshot from a digital item

Thanks for this info Lee - all of my digital downloads were created with "requires shipping" set to off.

Thanks for taking the time once more Basara - I really would like a solution to this as I am currently asking customers to perform 2 separate transactions IF the purchase both tangible and digital goods - that's not a good way to go.  I've tried experimenting with coupons but that doesn't seem to work either.

Appreciate the follow-up,
Ron

Basara, lLooking atyour screenshot of Flexy, I was thinking that if one of the conditions was either SKU and/or model number, then all the downloads can begin with digi-xxxx and it could allow free shipping only on items that have an sku and/or model number beginning with digi-xxx to ship free

If that were the case, if I could add custom conditions such as those, wonder if that could be a fix for me.

Thanks
Ron

Hi Gordon - yeah, I tried that and it doesn't work just makes the whole order free ship.

Okay I got it now - and that does make sense.  So this would mean that if I were to not use price based shipping then the digital items would not be included in the shipping costs?  I'll have to revisit this again and see.  Thanks Basara

Agreed, would be much more dynamic if usable without transaction.

Thanks

GordonTaylor - I am not mixing free with paid - downloads are paid for as well as the tangible but no shipping charges, right?  So I'm considering the Flexy extension but $50 for a solution that "might" fix my issue is a bit steep right now.

It seemed that you might get it - if you did can you please report on the extension?  I know it's a selfish request, but I'll ask anyway ;)

Thank you very much

Seems we got us a hornet's nest goin' here!  I did finally manage to get this sorted out by making sure there was at least 1 transaction - I was basing my initial problem report on those that had sales but no transactions (test users that did not have their status changed from pending to complete) - but once I had a transaction associated it would take me to the customer account and allow for "act as customer"

Same thing in both 1.1.7 and 1.1.8 - Lee got it right, it's a transaction contingent action.  Works fine for me in both places that "act as customer" shows.  Thanks for the help in understanding.

I tried this on my dev site as well, which has been updated to 1.1.8 with the same results.

used my own test account from when testing site which made purchases and has 2 downloads pending
customer status "on"
customer has purchases - status pending - - get to customer account page, when click on any option go to logged out sign in page

Thanks abantecart - well, session is set to 120 and browser does accept cookies - tried in both Chrome and Firefox with same results.  This is puzzling as it was working before just fine and I have not  made any changes or installed any other extensions.  Will try a couple of other things and report back if there are any positive findings.

Appreciate the assistance

General Support / Act on behalf of customer not working
« on: January 31, 2014, 04:09:40 PM »
Greetings,

When I go to Admin > Customers > and choose a customer then click the "act on behalf of" I get to the customer account interface but when clicking on any of the options I get automatically logged out and returned to a login page.  This is new, was working properly previously.  This particular site is using 1.1.7 as I'm waiting a bit before updating.  This should not have anything to do with the update as it was working before.

Thank you very much
Ron
