this is not a programming issue -  you need to learn how to manage your graphics yourself -  there are a many great apps that will do this.  Some are free,  some are paid.  They all help you resize - change the DPI, crop, etc.  These are things you should be doing with your own pictures prior to sending them to your cart files.

You can easily do a search for 'watermark graphics'  and you will find them.

Here's a short list:
Free image editors – that will add watermark

 Google Picassa  https://support.google.com/picasa/answer/106193?hl=en
Gimp (a free graphics program) adds either a graphic or text watermark.  There are lots of instructions and videos on the internet that tell you how.
http://kgiron.blogspot.com/2009/07/adding-watermark-using-gimp.html
A free online service that you can do one graphic at a time
http://www.umarkonline.com/
If you have Microsoft Publisher -2010 or later it adds watermarks
Here's some great software you'll have to buy,  usually has free trials
Snagit from Techsmith – you’ll have to buy,  has a free trial – great program
http://www.techsmith.com/snagit.html
And of course, Adobe Photoshop - they have software and a cloud service - both cost money.
Hope this helps get you on the path for good graphics handling, again something you need to be responsible for.

New Features Discussion / Re: Email testing feature or extension
« on: February 27, 2014, 04:52:33 PM »
Abantecart,  while you are thinking about email testing - it would be great to be able to send an test newsletter email to the site owner, prior to hitting the send button for everyone selected.

Not everyone will us the extension for MailChimp,  and adding a test email in there should be too difficult .

Thanks for considering.

Does your host have Softaculous with Abantecart?- it will make your installation really easy and probably overcome your issues.  You may need to check the file permissions per the documentation after it is installed.

why don't you just add the watermark to your graphics within your graphics program?  Seems like that would leave you in control of the output and how it renders.

Just my opinion.

Support / Re: Product options and prices

maybe a really simple fix -  just add information to the Options title - I just tested and added this - and it displays correctly - please use your own explanation - I was just testing to see how much we could put in option name.

Size (shows pricing difference-see total for pricing)

Extensions and Add-Ons / Re: Extension to add CALL FOR PRICE
« on: February 26, 2014, 11:10:58 AM »
Yes,  a solution was added in version 1.1.8.

It is in the Data portion of the first screen on the Product page.   Look for this:

Block Product From Ordering:
This will put product to display mode only with no ability to order. Contact us for order message will be displayed.

You will need to edit the template footer here:
Template:
   storefront/view/default_html5/template/mail/order_confirm.tpl

I noticed in the code - that version 1.1.8 seems to have removed the the powered by,  but it is in 1.1.7

The easist way is to just send the 10bucks and buy the extension White Label.

Here's a neat little tool that I like for helping with sizes -
http://www.pixelwindowapp.com/

It runs well on my XP, Win7 and Win8 systems - transparent so you can get right over the spot for sizing and it can give you sizes horizontally and vertically at the same time - other rulers I have do one or the other but not both on one placement.
PixelWindow (1.1) is a simple, light-weight, cross-platform application for measuring things on your screen.
    • Arrow keys: move the ruler by 1 pixel.
    • Shift + arrow keys: move the ruler by 5 pixels.
    • Command/Ctrl: resize the ruler by 1 pixel.
    • Shift + Command/Ctrl: resize the ruler by 5 pixels.
    • Mouse wheel: increase or decrease the transparency of the ruler.
    • Command/Ctrl + n: open a new ruler.
    • Double click: close a ruler.

Upgrade / file permissions settings upon upgrade changed
    « on: February 21, 2014, 11:43:42 AM »
Hello Admins,  in trying to trace down several of my issues after upgrade it occurred to me that perhaps some of my file settings had changed when I upgraded from .7  to .8.  And they did. Yes,  I am a little slow in thinking of this  :(
Upgrade from .7  to .8 on my server sets all those files back to 755.

So am wondering if this may be the cause of several issues with others,  I am still testing on mine, but so far so good.
Install instructions say  to make sure the following folders and files are writable
    chmod 0777 system/config.php
    chmod 0777 system/
    chmod 0777 system/cache/
    chmod 0777 system/logs/
    chmod 0777 image/
    chmod 0777 image/thumbnails/
    chmod 0777 download/
    chmod 0777 extensions/
    chmod 0777 admin/system/backup/

Customization help / Re: Regarding AbanteCart logo and the AbanteCart word
    « on: February 21, 2014, 09:40:02 AM »
The White Label extension that Basara gave the link to, is indeed a well spent $10 in my opinion.  I have and I it works well.

Not only does it handle the pages footers,  but the email footers  and will keep working thru upgrades without having to go edit templates every time.

    « on: February 20, 2014, 12:39:14 PM »
They have a really good documentation here:  you will refer to it a lot.  I suggest you read it entirely and then get started on configuring your site.
    http://docs.abantecart.com

Here's a link to the youtube videos -
    https://www.youtube.com/user/abantecart

It's a very full -featured cart -  but you do need to spend some time reading the documentation to begin to understand the flow of things.
    Just another user,

    and the last shot

Note,  this is 1.1.8 version,  html-default -  first time installation - not an upgrade to an exisitng.  Only has demo products in the database.

New Features Discussion / Re: deleting products and media

Here's what I am seeing in my testing:

If I choose a product in the Product Listing Page - and click on Delete WITHOUT going to the media first - it does delete the listing (see screen shot Product for my selection for checking purpose on the other screen shots only )

Upon checking the resource library AFTER deleting the product - I see the product is there,  and there is link is Null
    (see screen shot Mapping)

Then if I try to delete the product pic within the resource library, even though it shows no mapping - it will not delete (see screen shot Deleting-pic)

Now if I go to the Media tab and select delete on the image,  it does remove everything from the resource library.  Then I have to return to the product listing grid and delete the product there.
