Title: Installation Question
Post by: PDoor on February 13, 2018, 12:54:56 PM
I have installed AbanteCart Cart via Softaculous and I keep getting 403 Forbidden Access error code when trying to log in to admin. When just trying to enter the site i get the basic site without images, etc. I have tried changing permission codes in cpanel but that seems to make no difference.

when you installed,  did you select https?  there are usually 4 URL selections in a Softaculous install in the dropdown,  but the default is https:

If you do NOT have SSL cert on your site,  the https will not work.  This may be your issue.
If it isn't  I suggest you contact your host support for assistance.

AbanteCart installed as "http", and I have placed a trouble ticket with my host provider support. They confirmed it is indeed the Mod security blocking my access and are trying to resolve it. Thank you for your help.

Okay, my host provider made a mod security exception so I could enter and use my admin section. That is working fine now. HOWEVER..I now cannot see or access the actual store front. Plus all my images cannot be seen from the admin section. I get the 403 Forbidden error code. All my resource and image directories at the server have 0777 permissions. Should that be changed?

I also observe that when I try the link to my site with the "www." in front of it, it gives me the 403 code, but when I access it without the "www." it will go to it! Any enlightening help is appreciated. TIA

In theory, disable ModSecurity or move to another host
