Title: Zero amount in cart
Post by: newforestnick on April 14, 2017, 03:31:13 PM
I would like to add a coupon to some of my items making the cost 0.00 for the buyer. When I create the coupon it shows item price reduced to zero in my cart but doesn't show at checkout.

The checkout shows full price without reduction.

If you then proceed to purchase the item the email sent to customer shows a zero balance as it should. How can I make checkout show a zero balance after adding coupon?

Hello.
What is your AbanteCart version? Can you post your coupon settings?

Hi my version is the latest v1.2.10.
I have created a special at £0.00 cost (see file special.jpg).
The home page in store shows the discount on the product i.e. £0.00 (-£0.99) which is correct (See file home_page.jpg)
When I send to checkout the discount is not applied (See file cart.jpg)

I wonder how setting special price related to coupons?
What is your default currency and when you go to checkout are you logged in customer or guest?

Yes sorry my mistake it is a special!
The discount is not applied in the cart and you do not need to be logged in to see the cart at this stage.
As it is a download you cannot use guest option so I am logged in as a customer.
The currency is GBP UK
I have attached the home page (link.jpg) for you to see, it is not a live site so feel free to take a look.

Thanks for your time and help

Hello,  here's another thought about inducing customers to sign up -  you can offer then a coupon for your Free product for signing up.   You can limit your coupon to a specific item when setting up your coupon.

This will accomplish several things IMO  -  you can validate that the email is "real", and give you the opportunity to contact them in the future,   and it will remove the freeloaders that have no intention of becoming customers but just can't resist a freebie.

You can monitor your coupon redemption and send them a thank you for "looking"  and all the additional good marketing followup that will garner you additional sales.

Just a suggestion based on employing continuing marketing contacts.

Thank you llegrand that does seem to be the best way to overcome this issue. Made a test run and it does allow me to reduce the cost down to zero and also control how many products a customer can download.
