Customization help / Is it possible?
« on: March 10, 2016, 08:24:17 PM »
Guys I was wondering if it's possible to make a page outside the cart for information and one for a video gallery.  I see that a Content page will work but I can't seem to get it in the menu only in the footer section.

Customization help / Re: Homepage banner
« on: March 10, 2016, 10:02:33 AM »
I just asked myself the same question.  My answer is to not use the "Text Banner" in the Banner Manager and enable the Graphic Banner instead.  If you want text, use a image manipulation programs (PhotoShop, GIMP, etc.) and add the text on the actual image.  I usually blur the photo which give the text a chance to pop.  I've made a temple in GIMP to act as a container to my images for this banner.  The size that I found that works is 360H by 950W.  This is the container size only.  IF you have an image that large you can use it.  If not I drop the image into the contain and favor it to the left...adding my text to the right.

IMPORTANT:  for some reason all of the Graphic Banners are all linked together.  It was driving me nuts for an hour.  So when you click on the Image to change it (off to the right of the window) and it brings up the Resource Library choose of your new image BUT make sure you unlink this banner from the other ones.  Bottom left of this Resource Libary window there is a section that reads "Linked To:". Click the "Unlink from add/edit" link icon otherwise you'll see the same image for each slide.  Also you'll only be using a single image per banner image despite there being more places to add images.

Also make sure to disable all of the "Text Banner" items.

I'm still working through this but so far it's working.
The 950px wide is the max that can be displayed on a 15" monitor set to 1024 X 768.  I'm not sure how this will translate to smaller monitors with lower res.  You can also check the site/banners on an emulator for tablets and phones to make sure things are acceptable.   Check out double U, double U, double U dot mobiletest dot me/

Customization help / Re: Can AbanteCart be a full website
« on: March 10, 2016, 07:33:55 AM »
Tastiger!  Hey thanks for taking the time to write me back.  So you do think it's possible?  That's great.  AbanteCart is also the only opensource cart that I found that offers the complete removed of the header and nav which makes it possible to embed it into an existing website if I was to only use AbanteCart as a cart only.

Any ideas on the video gallery page?  I've been messing around with different carts. I'm on week two now desperate to find a solution.  The cart aspect of the site is of course very important but being able to host some document file for download and offer a instructional videos gallery is important.

I've run into serveral issues that I'm sure how to cure yet.  The image slide banner is one of them.  Although I change the color of it and working on the image for it I have noticed on a smaller monitor of 15" using a res of 1024 X 768 the banner's images and HTML text run into one another.  Ironically, it's on the banner that reads "HTML 5 Responsive storefront to look good on all screen sizes".  I'm no programmer so I'm not sure what this is the case or how to fix it.

Thanks very much again for your efforts here.  I really do appreciate it.

Customization help / Can AbanteCart be a full website
« on: March 07, 2016, 01:16:56 PM »
Hi guys,
I'm starting a new business and have been less than satisfied with website building companies that offer little in features and rob you blind when getting upgrades...tech support is also a joke.  As one of my solutions to this I have been working with AbanteCart as the replacement for a commercial ecommerce solution.  I really do like it!  As I'm trying to find a solution for replacing the website itself I starting see the potential in AbanteCart to use it as a full blown website rather than just a cart solution.
I was thinking how great it would be to have AbanteCart be my website.  Is it possible to have pages without products but something like a video gallery and documents page for download documents?

If so, does this require the installation of extensions or some other add-on?
