Template Support / Re: website loading speed very slow
« on: April 02, 2015, 02:54:11 PM »
Their new algorithm is now putting much more weight on mobile compatibility than any other factor. I'm about to write an article on that fact, it'll start on April 27th.

I may have spoken out of turn on speed, yes it does matter, but AbanteCart passes all their tests. "rachelagboola" is experiencing something other than website response with the slowness issue.

While it is important to have a fast loading site, the speed at which it loads has little weight when compared to keyword structure, h1 structure and the keyword rich URL.

ok,thanks.i just hope this does not affect SEO ranking

Ranking has nothing to do with page load speed at all.

I love in AbanteCart: "Design---Layout" in Admin mode and we can modify the design of each page.

I don't know if there is another software: (prestashop, OpenCart,..etc) with this option.

There are those and more, I've used most of them, but then I found AC and here is stay ... it is the best!

Yes, you can, but keep in mind that AbanteCart updates will cause you to lose your work, you'll need to modify it all over again, or stay with the version you have modified.

You can only use templates that are designed for AbanteCart for technical reasons. Other templates won't work, it's not the HTML5 that won't work, it's the .php and something called hooks. (Not trying to be too techical).

We do have a few free templates available and there are certainly paid ones out there as well. I'm very experienced in using Shopping cart software and I can tell you from experience that AbanteCart is the best out there and I have tried most of them!

AbanteCart has it's own marketplace. Go to Abantecart.com and click on marketplace, you'll find templates, extensions and more!

Welcome to our forum and I know you'll find it helpful to help you get started on your journey to become free of the fees!

Regards,

Gordon

This is the beginning of Google's push to rank sites that are mobile compatible and give them more weight. (I'll be writing an article on this in the next few days.)

Having said that, it's also a function of your hosting company. My store ranks in the top 81% of all sites anywhere, for speed of page loads. That is because of the hosting company I use. The speed at which the store loads on computer or mobile device is most dependent on two things, the speed of the server and the connection speed of the user.

Additionally, you can't always tell when someone will clear their cache on their machine, many folks have their browsers set to clear it every time it closes. So, while it'll make some folks load faster if the cached images are dated, most folks won't notice a difference.

General Discussion / Re: Product Not Found!

When a problem like this arises, it's a great idea to go into your aPanel and clear your cache. It may seem like magic, but often it's as simple as that!

General Discussion / Please Consider A Donation Today!
« on: March 29, 2015, 10:53:59 PM »
All to often we take things for granted, especially when they are  FREE.

AbanteCart is no exception and the guys here work hard to make this THE BEST eCommerce solution I've ever used.

I am NOT a paid member of the staff, just a volunteer, so I don't feel bad about asking the user base to donate. Pavel and the gang work their collective butts off for very little money to keep this script working as well as it does.

At the bottom of every page is a donate button. Please donate when you can and as much as you can. Any amount, even the smallest, helps.

If this shopping cart solution helps you make money then please consider leaving a donation each month, perhaps a small percentage of your profits.

Thanks,

Gordon

Customization help / Re: Widening Option Box on Product Page
« on: March 29, 2015, 09:59:25 PM »
It's not just about the CSS, it's also about the php.

Keep in mind, any changes you make to the code will be lost if you upgrade. I suggest that you keep a good copy of everything you do, so when it's time to upgrade you can quickly get back what you lost ... or simply stay with the older version.

SEO / Is SEO For Local Results Worth It?
« on: March 29, 2015, 03:34:52 PM »
Oh, you bet it is!

If you have a business that has a brick and mortar (physical) presence as well as your online efforts then nothing is more important for you.

But, what if you're web based only? Well guess what, it's just as important to get your site listed in the SERP's as having a physical storefront!

Here are some important facts about getting found in the local results SERP's.

  • 71% of users value the information provided in local search results
  • 36% of them think that the local results are convient
  • 14% use them to find a local business each month
However, here is the really important statistic and it's mind blowing!

A staggering 61% of those local searches result in a purchase ONLINE!

People prefer to shop from someone local, even if it's via their website, therefore the only sensible conclusion anyone can make is:

Don't skip the local aspect of your SEO objectives!

Page Space is Limited

Google displays many elements in local results – addresses, reviews, star ratings, and much more. Above that, it also displays AdWords ads and organic results. All these elements take up precious “page estate,” limiting the number of local results per page.

Getting Results Takes Time

Seeing the results of local campaigns is tedious and time-consuming. Without going into too much detail, there are plenty of platforms to verify, manage, and claim profiles on. Each one has its own set of rules; making sure your profiles comply with them takes time.

Big Retail Chains Do Local, Too

It doesn’t mean, however, that you can’t overcome them. It does mean a fierce competition for local results and more resources you need to devote to secure your listing.

But working with local search doesn’t only mean following best practices and devising strategies.

A major aspect of local SEO work revolves around other activities:

  • Monitoring your progress
  • Finding new citation opportunities
  • Conducting regular site audits

You will definitely need dedicated tools to accomplish a good local listing and there are several tools out there that are invaluable and very reliable on getting results.

*Whitespark
*BrightLocal
*SEMrush (my favorite one)
*LocalVox
*LSEO
*Conclusion

Using one of those programs will get you're local results popping in no time and they are easy to use to keep track of your progress!
