General Support / Tracking free downloads
« on: April 07, 2019, 11:12:52 PM »
Hi,

I have made several e-files available as free downloads on my shopping cart. Is there a way to track how many times each of these free files is downloaded?

Thanks

New Features Discussion / Re: Color scheme
« on: January 30, 2019, 05:38:01 PM »
Here are two sample pictures of what I refer to.

The first one is under settings. The gray-ish background indicates the features are OFF. Note that ON has a white background.

The second picture shows the settings for the 'send mail' page. Note that 'html/text' tab has a white background and 'visual' tab has the gray-ish background even though 'html/text' is the active window.

This is confusing.

I think that if you were to show the first image to someone who is not familiar with AbanteCart and ask them whether the options were on or off, they probably would not be able to say and if they were to venture a guess, the might say its on. I can only recognize they are off by looking at what it looks like for an option to be on.

Nothing major nor life changing but perhaps easy to improve?

New Features Discussion / Download activation
« on: January 30, 2019, 05:26:23 PM »
Hi again,

Still very happy with the cart, just another thing I realized. This time with downloads.

I have downloads set to activate when the order status is 'processing' which is my default order status for the store.

Now, I decided that whenever a customer would download the file, I would manually change the order status to complete. Unfortunately this created a problem. After the manual change, the order status 'complete' doesn't match the download requirement 'processing' and this deactivates the download for a customer.

At first I didn't understand the warning message I was getting from this change of order status.  The warning message would appear in the order summary under the downloaded files tab.

Eventually I recognized the problem and changed the order status back to 'processing' and this solved the problem.

Why is this a problem?

1. If customer downloads file and I change the order status to 'complete', he can't go back and make another download even if I allow several downloads of a file.
2. If I need to push an updated version of the file to the customer after I change the order status to 'complete', this file cannot be downloaded by customer

My suggestion for future carts would be:

1. would it be desirable to allow for several selections to be made under the downloads setting so that users can activate a download when order status is 'processing' and / or 'complete' and / or ...

2. if I were to change the store default order status to 'complete' then I would have to change all my downloads to activate on 'complete' and I have dozens upon dozens of them. Perhaps a feature to make batch changes to products would be a nice addition.

3. is there another option (besides no longer manually changing order status)?

Thanks,

Martin

New Features Discussion / Color scheme
« on: January 30, 2019, 05:03:05 PM »
Hi,

Very happy with the cart. One minor suggestion. The color scheme selected for showing which options are on or off has been a little confusing. Sometimes it is difficult to immediately recognize what the selected setting is.

For example, I just realized that the 'send mail' page in AbanteCart Cart defaults the 'message body' to 'html/text' and that I was sending completely unformatted emails. I always thought I was in 'visual' mode... though I admit I found it odd to have no formatting tools... but figured it was just the way it was designed.

Thanks

Tips and Tricks / Tip for Newbies like me - Sending email
« on: January 30, 2019, 04:48:35 PM »
Hi,

After sending various text emails to clients via the standard AbanteCart Cart interface, I finally noticed that AbanteCart Cart defaults the 'message body' text area in 'html/text.' The tab colors make it difficult to know what option is selected... and I certainly got it wrong.

This means that no paragraph breaks were ever coded into the mail I send and that my recipients were getting one continuous horrible looking blob of sentences.

TIP
When you send emails through AbanteCart Cart's interface, make sure you click on 'Visual' to check the layout of your mail.

Elemental Watson! I know, but again the coloring scheme of AbanteCart Cart makes it difficult to easily recognize what option is selected.

Hope this helps.

How-to questions / Re: Allow customer to make an offer?
« on: January 15, 2019, 06:27:18 PM »
I have wondered about this as well. After looking at the extensions, it seems like one could use the "Donations" extension to do this. But this is a guess. Perhaps this extension allows one the set each product as if it was a donation and thus allow customer to make an offer.

Thanks. Something seems not working for me. I have a modified theme with a copy of the product.tpl and product_listing.tpl files in it.

I found the code in product_listing.tpl and made changes (you listed the same file twice?). No matter what, changes don't display. I cleared cache both in AbanteCart and my browser, forced reload of webpage and all the same.

Then changed name of product_listing.tpl and product.tpl files both for my theme and default them hoping something would break, cleared cache again and reloaded. Page still displays the same. And the 'call to order' displays the phone and the url on the product page.

Wonder what I might be missing to get this to work.

Thanks, I know how to change language definitions.

The 'call to order' display has a little  phone image that shows on its left side. I have succeeded at changing the text but haven't been able to get rid of that phone image. How does one do this?

Also, where does one change the url associated with the 'call to order' display?

54
Since you're on this topic.

1. Which is the file that needs modified to change the url for the 'call to order' image?

2. Where do you remove the phone symbol of the 'call to order' button? I have looked everywhere without success. Perhaps the problem is I don't know what that image is called...

Thanks for your help

General Support / error contacting customer
« on: December 05, 2018, 05:02:19 PM »
Hi,

Today I tried for the first time to contact a customer via my admin (Sales --> Send Email) and got an error message - see attached pic.

As far as I know everything else works fine. I have received alert emails and inquiry emails. I have the mail protocol set to 'mail.'

I looked at my server error log and found this

[Wed Dec 05 16:16:38.613064 2018] [:error] [pid 10431:tid 46928145516288] [client 107.77.245.8:21099] SoftException in Application.cpp:267: File "/home/site/public_html/increase4all/task.php" is writeable by group, referer: https://bluestarway.com/increase4all/index.php?rt=sale/contact&s=secret&token=Li2UxoudHedFrreQrMhHpu2T5GgU2wvV

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for checking.

I guess, I should just leave it at that rather than trying to figure out why SEO urls are not working for all category levels.

Thanks Sam.

I did some testing on my store url . I get the forced https and www.

SEO function is not perfect, not sure why. SEO urls are not functioning only for 2nd level categories. Everything else (i.e. first level categories and products urls) displays as SEO url.

Seems like that was my problem before - but because I never tested beyond 2nd level category I didn't notice that it is some kind of hiccup that only applies to 2nd level category. All else functions with SEO urls.

Thanks again.

Would be nice if someone would go to my site to test the SEO functionality and see what they observe.

I have tried that, but I don't know how to make the https and www rule work with the SEO rule.

When I add https rule I either end up with a non working link or non working SEO rule.

Don't know enough to fix this.
