Good evening,

I am still running 1.2.12 and would like to "get current" to 1.2.16. The current version was installed via Softaculous in cpanel.

Is it simply a matter of upgrading through Softaculous or is a fresh install required?

Obviously I want to retain all my products, categories, and settings.

I  know that manual edits I've made to php files will have to be manually re-edited.

Are there any best practices to make the upgrade less painful?

Thanks.

EDIT:

While I was waiting to see more, I cloned my existing storefront to a test subdomain, and started incrementally updating AbanteCart, from 2.12 to 2.13, 2.14, etc. Everything went fine until the last update from 2.15 to 2.16. Upon executing that update, all attempts to access the storefront or admin pages result in a server 500 error.

I'm running PHP 7.3.6.

.. save buttons at both top and bottom of the page/screen/tab.

Agree, floating Save button will be even better.  ;)

I thought about that, but didn't want to suggest it as I thought it might be too difficult to implement effectively. That would be the best option IMO. Not essential, but nice to have. :)

If user is creating a new product entirely, normally, he/she fills fields from top to bottom.

Yes, but if you are only using a subset of the available fields (depending on the merchandise you sell), you may find yourself done with data entry and still towards the top of the page.

Regardless, best usability practices recommend that on lengthy data entry pages, you have save buttons at both top and bottom of the page/screen/tab. You shouldn't have to scroll all the way down (or up) to execute a major function.

Thanks.

I'm dredging this topic back up to the top, as it appears it was never implemented.

Given the height/length of the product edit page, having the Save/Cancel buttons at the top of the page in addition to the bottom of the page is a necessity.

Can this be manually changed easily, or is it too involved of a change?

Thank you.

EDIT: I figured it out, thanks.

Solved. Thank you.

Could you please tell me which .tpl file is the one to edit for the "general" data entry section for products? I can't make heads or tails out of all the physical files and when I search for control names shown in source, I come up empty.

Thank you.

In an effort to streamline data entry and product creation, I would like to either hide or move to the bottom of the page, those fields that I do not plan to move.

Are there any recommended best practices in this regard? I assume the only way to do this is to edit the code in one of the .tpl files. Is that correct?

Thank you.

News and Announcements / Re: AbanteCart forum migration proposal!

FYI, this is a thread from 1.5 years ago. No need to bring the issue up again, IMO.

My first thought when I saw this in my unread posts list was that the forum was being moved and that content would be lost, and I got several posts in before seeing the date.

Please don't bump ancient threads just for the sake of doing so.

I would prefer to hide with CSS rather than editing the .tpl file, but I cannot figure out which div or span to hide, since it only appears on hover and I can't use the browser element viewer to see which element it is.

Thanks.

Is there an easy way to disable/hide the white "View" band with an i icon that shows up any time you hover over an image on a category page or home page? It's distracting and completely unneccessary, since clicking on the thumbnail image opens the listing page anyway.

Thank you.

New Features Discussion / Re: GDPR Opt-in popup?
« on: May 25, 2018, 07:54:46 AM »
Given the sweeping EU requirements, my assumption was that this functionality would be included in AbanteCart Cart off the shelf, not a paid marketplace plugin.

Also, the screenshots do not show the cookie opt-in functionality for the storefront when people visit the store for the first time, only in-account data after they have created an account. Can we see what that functionality looks like before purchase?

New Features Discussion / GDPR Opt-in popup?
« on: May 13, 2018, 07:38:18 PM »
Are there any plans to create a GDPR cookie/personal data opt-in popup functionality for AbanteCart? It's 12 days until GDPR goes into effect, and I'm surprised that there's no discussion anywhere on this forum, given the number of EU-based participants here.

Thanks.

I couldn't figure out how to do this in the admin: How do I get cumulative cost and price (worth) totals across the entire product catalog? It seems that some sort of inventory reporting mechanism would be useful, including category subtotals. For example, if you wanted to see how much the items in Category X cost you or what the asking price was for all items in Category Y.

Thank you.

New Features Discussion / Re: Adding new products one after another

That's the workaround I've been doing. Hopefully a persistent add products button can be part of the next UI.

Thanks.
