Good Day people.
I have no clue of what to do regarding updating a site manually, I have basic knowhow.
Could someone please tell me in "baby terms" what I do.
1/ I have downloaded the zip file and unzipped it
2/ do I go to the SQL in my control panel or the files wizard/management to insert them
3/ When i'm in the correct place what folder do I open
4/ do i then just copy and paste them into the folder
5/ do I need to change text as I have read in a previous post for an older upgrade
and finally do I do the same things all over again to get me from the 1.1 that I am running to the 1.1.4 that I need
All comments will be greatly appreciated, Thank you

Yes, never changed them from the originals

hello again:)

If you do not receive emails that means you does not set up email preferences of your AbanteCart.
You can do this manually via sql changes. You have to open table your_prefix_"settings" and change values for those keys:
     key name                               value

1. config_mail_protocol            smtp
2. config_mail_host                   ssl://smtp.gmail.com
3. config_smtp_port                   465
4. config_smtp_username       your_user_name@gmail.com
5. config_smtp_password        ********

then go to login page and repeat password recovery procedure.
You have to get email.
If not - i have another way to recovery password but it's harder:)

By the way. Did you saved password into browser's password manager?
I shall try this, but before I do, When I backed up the site yesterday I received an email to the account telling me that I had backed it up, so surely if that email went to my email address then so should the one for the reset ?
sorry I am a bit confussed

Been into SQL setting, email and only find "store main email" and it is there and correct, cant see were to change smtp, and protocol etc,,,,,,,,,,,,
cant see anything like this

1. config_mail_protocol
2. config_mail_host
3. config_smtp_port
4. config_smtp_username
5. config_smtp_password

Have it like this

Have all of this ?

setting_id    int(11)
store_id    int(11)
group    varchar(32)
key    varchar(64)
value    text          ****************

Support / Resetting password and user name in control panel
« on: March 20, 2013, 07:25:54 AM »
Hello
I have been locked out of my control panel, so I cant update my site.
I had language issues that have now been sorted via the php SQL thing,,,,,,so Thats all fine !!I think !
I have tried to get into my control panel via all the usual routes, firstly it did not recognise my user name or password, yet I never changed them from the presets, so I went through the "forgot password" routine, then it wouldnt recognise my email, so again went to SQL as directed by An administrator, and done what he told me to do.
The email was then sent to the correct address,,,,,,well according to the message i got telling me so, but it has never arrived, so I changed the email address in the SQL and tried another one, still nothing, so I am at a dead end.
were the hell do I go now to reset the admin password and user name so I can update my site.
Is it a case of doing a back up and deleting the site and starting over, and uploading the back up,,,,,,doesnt sound like a good idea so I hope thats not the case.
CAN SOMEONE please please tell me were to reset this

Thanks

Most host providers have phpMyAdmin to access Mysql database.

1. Open phpMyAdmin
2. Select database used by abantecart
3. Run below SQL command

SELECT email FROM `users`;

If you use prefix in tables add it before users tabe

Done this and now it has sent the email,,,,but ! i have not received it at my inbox and I have tried a few times to send it !
am  :'(

Am I right in saying that I can change the email address in this SQL to another one, and try it that way ?

Okay tried changing the email in the SQL again same issue, said it has sent email, but nothing has arrived
any ideas anyone

Thanks

I do remember the last time i was in the control panel that there were several messages about language problems, I had no idea that this would cause this problem, But I cant get into the control to see what this issue is, and have it sorted.
I noticed that other folk are having the same issue,"thanks for the link", and that there is word of the bug being sorted in an update, ,,,,,do you know when this update is due, or has it been done
Thanks for your help
