Title: Database configuration
Post by: abica on February 25, 2013, 07:26:01 AM
We are on our localhost server and are not sure why we are having a problem here but we go through the process of entering the required information for the database (we've used information not previously entered anywhere) and then when we go to continue we get this error message:

Sorry, but error occurred during installation:
OK:
Name    Info
10000::database error
1046 Error: No database selected in query: DROP TABLE IF EXISTS `addresses`; in C:\Program Files\XAMMP\xampp-portable\htdocs\xampp\public_html\install\model\install.php on line 52

A cure would be appreciated

hello.
what version of Abantecart do you try to install?
why do you use portable version of XAMMP? May be it's a cause?
Is mysql-server is running?

Abantecart 1.1.3

Should we be using the full version of XAMPP as opposed to portable? (it suggested it didn't matter when we went to install)

According to the XAMPP Controller mySQL is active

I'm assuming installing AbanteCart also installs a mySQL database iin the process as the XAMPP Controller shows one to be active

Probably this will help:

Thank you. I think I now have things right. I removed the xampp portable version and installed the full version then followed through to establish a database. I have the storefront coming up but cannot seem to bring up the admin panel. What I can bring up is a text format with links that don't seem to be active. Is there a way that I can bring up the proper admin panel?

Giving up here! have spent 3 days now trying to configure this thing employing XAMPP on our localhost server. Can't waste anymore time! Have gotten along quite a way but now find we can't access the admin panel which should be easy. this link doesn't seem to relate to what we have (eg our site isn't in the mail folder, in fact, our site has no other name than XAMPP followed by public_html). After that we've successfully found our way to the storefront but nowhere near the admin panel. If we can't resolve this in short order it is time to move on to other cart considerations!

When we completed the initial cart install, the page attached (abantecart installation finished) appeared with the two button options, one for storefront and one for admin panel access. Upon following the "login to control panel" button link, the attached page "Control Panel" comes up and all its links go nowhere!

I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about and besides that, there are 7 or 8 "Firebug" add-ons for Firefox.  It's really too bad because this cart showed real promise.

Very strange. I use XAMPP and install often. There is no problem at all.
This must be something to do with permissions on your files

Following the install, the information confirmed all settings to be as they should (green check marked).

Further, when XAMPP installed it contained the HTDOCS folder but in it was another xampp folder. Copying the public_html files, as advised, over to the HTDOCS folder didn't enable the cart to function so we copied them to the xampp folder in the HTDOCS folder and the cart installed and indicate it had successfully however, as the pages attached previously, although the storefront appears functional, the admin panel is not!
