I can receive emails through AbanteCart but when I try and reply to those emails the customers are not receiving my messages.
My hosting service say's the problem is not on their end and I am not sure what to try next to fix the problem.
Should I change hosting services if they cannot fix the problem?

What do you mean "when I try and reply to those emails". Are you reply in your mail client, to what email?

When I receive notification of a sale I always go into Status & Comments section and Thank the customer for their business.
I also change the status from pending to processing and click on the notify customer button in Status & Comments section.
The problem is I have customers asking me why I not notify them that I have had received their order or let them know when it will be shipped.
It appears my customers are not receiving the messages I am sending them.
How do I fix this problem?

Register a test customer on your site with valid email. Place an order and send notifications. After 5-20 minutes (based on your mail method) if nothing received:
check spam folder in your mail
check for errors in server and AbanteCart error logs

I will try out you idea and let you know how it works.
Today I changing hosting companies and I am now using Interserver as my hosting company.
