Title: Tax Set Up for United States, Counties, Cities
Post by: Board Game Bear on March 21, 2016, 02:52:12 PM
I'm new and this may be buried somewhere on the forums here. However, I've not found the answer in my searches yet. My question is about to set up taxes for the county I live and the city I live in. I have the state tax already set up. What do I need to do so AC will charge the correct tax for customers who buy from us in our county? And how to set up taxes for customers who buy from us in our city?

The county tax rate is the state and county rate combined. Our city tax rate is the state, county, and city rates combined. This is probably a pretty straight forward solution, but, at the moment I'm seeing it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Okay working through documentation the link led me to. In short, when I test I still only get state tax added to item in shopping cart. Here is what I have set up so far:
Tax Classes > Taxable Goods
Taxable Goods has the following: USA (country), Colorado (state), Garfield County (county) and, Rifle (city)

Locations
USA (country), Colorado (state), Garfield County (county) and, Rifle (city)

Zones
Go like this: United States > Colorado (shows up twice)
                                              Garfield County (shows up twice)

What I need is to be able to charge our state residents just state tax unless they live in our county then I need to charge state plus county tax unless they live in our city then I need State plus county plus city. Right now it makes little sense to me and simply a jumbled mess. Any help is appreciated.

Okay I have a solution. It may not be the most efficient, but, here is what I did:
I created zones
Colorado-Garfield
Colorado-Rifle
Then created locations
Colorado-Garfield
Colorado-Rifle

Then went into Tax Classes > Taxable Goods and added rates the county and city. Thus giving customers, in their shopping cart, the choices that fir their situation. I've tested these in the shopping cart and it worked.

If someone has a more streamlined way I'd love to here it.
