Installation and Configuration / Is PHP 8.3.4 going to be OK?

I'm running an Ubuntu Server 22.04.4 LTS on my Linode. Had some Apache on it, and apt update brought PHP up to 8.3.4. Is this going to be ok for running AbanteCart 1.3.4? I'm confused because the requirements at https://abantecart.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/AD/pages/3768390/AbanteCart+System+Requirements show No for PHP 8.3 or greater.

General Support / SEO URLs does not work

I have recently migrated to a new host, installing a fresh AbanteCart 1.3.0.1 and upgrading to PHP 8.0. I had a few issues which I have corrected, but one I can't shake is an intermittent warning that "SEO URLs does not work", and find that sometimes the URL will be expressed in the SEO format, and sometimes similar to "... index.php?rt=product/product&product_id=387".

I don't see anything in error.txt that suggests a relation to this problem. Where can I look for clues, please?

I run Apache2 version 2.4.48 and mod_rewrite appears to work correctly. I have .htaccess in place and works correctly for rewriting http to https URLs. My Apache configuration file for the site has:

How-to questions / URL available in HTML block?

I'd like to make a Facebook Share link on individual product pages, so visitors can share the product pages with their friends. Seems I could make a custom HTML block to show the link. Are there field codes available in the HTML editor that I can embed the current URL? Or another trick to accomplish something like the attachment here shows.

How-to questions / Side-load images from another website?

I have another web address with photos I would like to use for my products, rather than uploading from my own computer. In other words, I would like to import them into AbanteCart using the Resource Library. Preferably, be able to specify multiple URLs. Can I do it from the Admin web interface?

Built-in Features / Category block disappears with browser width.

New guy using the Default template, and Firefox browser. Why does my Category block disappear when I reduce the width of my browser to half-screen? I can't see it on my Android Chrome browser, either. Can I fix this? I really need the Category feature!

How-to questions / Under Construction notice for new install

I have a new installation in the top public_html folder and would like the public to see an "Under Construction" notice until I get everything set up and tested. I'd also like to be able to see the website draft while I'm working on it. Please support your local newbie -- is there a simple way to do this?

General Discussion / New User: Established B+M Seller Going Fully eCommerce

Hi! I'm jimcooncat, a new user, but have been in tech for a long long time. My wife owns a vintage household goods store and has decided after several years in business to stop selling at our location and move completely online. Through her business I've been selling various items on Amazon, eBay, and other marketplaces for almost four years. About a year ago I got done with my day job and have worked to build these businesses to the point where they can support us. We're about half-way there, with Amazon FBA sales currently being the bulk of the action.

After a very frustrating two weeks of reviewing eCommerce software and services, I have a new installation working as of this morning. I'm enthusiastic to get it set up properly and start listing. I would love to be able to get 300 of our many items listed in this online store very soon.

If all goes well I'll likely be an active participant in this forum. There is so much to explore, exploit, and experiment with! I'm also part of several active reseller communities. I look forward to asking and answering questions here, and bring some value!
