There have been updates, but mostly maintenance and replacements of core extensions rather than brand-new ones. For example, v1.4.4 replaced the old USPS shipping extension, updated PayPal and Stripe, and added Google address autocomplete — these ship with the core, not the marketplace, so it feels like "nothing new."

The marketplace itself relies mainly on third-party developers, and official resources are limited, so the pace is indeed slow.
