Public_html folder suddenly got full, and fills up so fast if make space

hi

in the last week i've had a problem with my site,

my disk usage has filled up, the Public_html folder has suddenly started getting full really fast, i deleted some old backups, making 200mb, and within a few hours was full again, i freed up 220mb more and same again fills up so fast, and once full i cant open my emails or abantecart.

currently at over 800mb, 300 of that in one day

i made the site a year or so ago, and the disk storage has remained stable and low until about a week ago.

can someone tell me why it is filling up so fast, and what i need to delete.

i use orangewebsite, and the version is from the start of last year, unfortunately, now i cant even open abantecarte as my disk usage is full and i dont know what to delete to make more space. so i cant get the version or do the system check

this is the reply from support from my hosting, they said they cant help any more and i needed to ask for help on here.

which majority seems to be cache inside the system folder.

644M ./cache
44K ./logs

in the layout folder in cache there is literally thousands of log files, takes a while to even load them all, the rest of the folders seem normal

i was thinking maybe delete the entire thing and restore from backup? or can i just delete loads of files in the cache?

Go to the /system/cache/ and remove all subdirectories. Please do not remove the /system/cache/index.html file

edit: i deleted just the layout folder and that cleared up over 700mb, but it is already starting to fill up with hundreds of files.

i set up the system check, just got messages saying:

/public_html/index.php file is writable. It is recommended to set read and execute modes for this file to keep it secured and running properly!



/public_html/system/config.php file needs to be set to read and execute modes to keep it secured from editing!

just to double check, you mean all the folders? just keep the last file? or keep the folders but delete the contents of them all?

now my tmp folder has filled up 250mb in an hour, and the layout folder in public_html keeps filling up 100s of mb a day.

can you explain why this is happening? and is it possible to fix it?

im a bit confused lol this is a bit advanced for me, i have read over the instructions about 10 times, i get the copy and paste bit, and the edit upgrade.sql, but the rest i dont know

also, i dont know where the directory is, and how do i find my info to replace in upgrade.sql?

Did you check the error in the log?

ive downloaded it and tried to install manually, says failed to unpack i think

pasted the error log below, it makes no sense to me.
i was thinking, if i totally delete it all and just rebuild the whole site, took me about 2 hours to make, ive spent about 10 hours trying to update and fix it in the last week lol.
