I believe if you also post the error that shows in the log for the time you received this screen message the Admins could help you easier.

Just look in the System > Logs  then Error Logs.

It's just a general error, probably during cloning a product. Use your back button and I'm sure you'll see it has added the product.

I too have this problem, it's a server side issue and nothing to do with the cart script.

Ok, so what you're saying is that you're getting that error when trying to create a new product and it DOES NOT create the product?

Check with your hosting company and make sure that php CURL function is installed on your server. I'm told by the Admin that works on the Core it's an issue with the php CURL on the server. I have it installed, but it's causing me problems.

Also, check your error log...make sure you're not getting a duplicate product error. I was getting those as well.
