'Unknown AJAX error' when using product input option

I tried AbanteCart Cart for the first time today after trying a few others before deciding which to go with on my new (and first store) selling personalised gifts.

All products need at least one text input option for the personalisation.

If an item is purchased without entering any text in the product input option box, all is well but, if any text is entered in the input option, though the item is added to the cart with the personalisation intact, an 'Unknown AJAX Error' flashes up on the screen every time. Re-installing a fresh store has no effect. It maybe something I am doing wrong, but I dont think so but as it stands, an error flashing up with every product looks bad.

Also, one of the functions I require is to be able to limit the max characters of the input fields, but I can see no way to accomplish this?

I hope someone can shed some light on my issues, as AbanteCart Cart does look promising and seems to get rave reviews everywhere I look.

Can you share your setting for product options? Is this just basic input ? Help me with steps and I will solve this problem

I see 'Unknown AJAX Error' in AbanteCart 1.1.8 when my Internet connection is very very poor. When Internet stable everything ok on same pages and no errors.

Hi, apologies for the delay in replying.

It is a basic input with no options (though i tried adding options to no effect on the error), just for entering a name to be personalised on the item.

With the required setting set to no, adding the item to the cart without typing in the input box does not cause the error, however if you put anything in the input box, the error is displayed.

Setting required to 'yes' has no effect on the error.

The option settings upon clicking 'add option' for the product:

Status: ON
Option: Name
Element type: Input
Sort order: 0
Required: No

After the error is displayed, the item is added to the cart with the option in tact so I have no idea what effect if any this error message has other than looking nasty.

I can not replicate your issue. But I see problem if page not loaded completely see screen-shot. So if Internet is slow and page loaded some time we have this issue visible.

Thats strange. The error occurs for me once the page is fully loaded, and also on a local install (where connection speed isn't a factor anyway)...

The fact that, for me at least, the error only occurs if data is typed into the input field, and not if the item is added to the cart without any data, would suggest that the cause is something other than connection speed/page loaded.

I am at a loss, does anyone else get this error message?

to solve it replace file public_html/storefront/view/default_html5/javascript/common.js  provided by Abolado

Very strange,  problem re-emerged.

I had been getting Ajax error on one product only which was really strange and it was when visiting the review tab. It seems to have gone away though. The file provided for us to replace the original did help a bit but then it reverted back.

I dont see the error now as I just checked. I made some changes to PHP version recently so I dont know if that had an effect.

when I try to change to shipping country for shipping quote, is shown Unknown AJAX Error! and not display correctly with state selection.
