brands scrolling shows blank square for unchecked mfg

I have 19 manufactures in my list.   I have 9 of them selected to show on the block Brands Scrolling List.

What I can't find is how to not have blank squares show up on the scroll for the mfgs NOT selected?  See attached for the output I am seeing.

Where do I control the output on the block?
