New menu and Gridview in controlpanel

How to create a new gridview like "product_viewed" in admin panel.I have used the same format as they used to create a page.But i stuck at the page.tpl where $content doesnt load anything.The page in  frontend is simply empty.Whta is the procedure to create a new page.
