Possible to have images of purchased products in email order confirmation?

I searched this forum for 'email images' and cannot find any threads on this subject.

Is it possible to include thumbnail images of the products purchased in the email confirmation?

We implemented more flexible mail letter format since next version 1.2.9. You will have ability to change mail-template via hook.
Unfortunately current version 1.2.8 does not allow do that.

Thanks for the update.

I've seen the word "hook" many times on this forum and not sure what it means. But are you saying that in 1.2.9 I will be able to include product image thumbnails in order confirmation emails?
