Sending SMTP via Office365..?
« on: July 03, 2017, 11:47:49 AM »
Hi!

I'm new to AbanteCart, and so far, I am impressed and very grateful - it's amazing it's free.

I have a question: How do I configure the SMTP mail to work with Office365? According to Microsoft, I need to have the following:-

Server name: smtp.office365.com
Port: 587
Encryption method: STARTTLS

It's the STARTTLS  that's confounding me - How do I get AbanteCart to comply with that protocol?

I tried ssl://smtp.office365.com AND starttls:/smtp.office365.com - no joy.

:(

Any ideas?

you can ask your hosting provider about it. php just uses server openssl library.

This is for anyone who is using GoDaddy and 365 office email for SMPT mail setup.
You need to set the mail up with LOCALHOST as the SMTP host and provide the username which will be the office 365 email you set up through GoDaddy. For the PORT you need to put 25.

Note: you DONT need a password

Here is their documentation: ae.godaddy.com/help/send-form-mail-using-an-smtp-relay-server-953

In theory you should add your abantecart into whitelist of applications first
