Export Files not able to be read by access or excel
« on: October 26, 2018, 07:15:29 PM »
I am very familiar with manipulating data (ms access, txt files etc) but I'm stumped.

I have exported the products every way imaginable and I cannot get excel or an MS Access data link to understand all the field names.

Correction, I have gotten an XML export to have all of the fields (column names) be read when viewing within MS Access.  But when that happens the data is corrupted and spread all over the place.

If they allow the screenshot, you can what it looks like within access, and keep in mind, there is only actually one product listed in AbanteCart.  So there should only be one record.

Would appreciated any advice.  Thanks

Hi.
What delimiter you use for CSV export?

See attached image for what it looks like during the Import Steps in MS Access.  You can see that that column names stop after the "products-date-modified" date field.

I've deleted all products and added new products with bare bones info and I still get a clean text file to download.

Heres a look at the same process as above except it with the "FIRST ROW CONTAINGS HEADINGS" box unchecked

Please attach example of exported file.
I have never seen any issues with CSV in OpenOffice (it is free) or Numbers app for OS X.

In microsoft office try to import file (not just open) https://www.hesa.ac.uk/support/user-guides/import-csv

I've worked with text file files for 20 years with MS Access.  The goal is to get it to work with MS Access, because that's where I manage my store data.  I want to export directly from Access to a file supported by AbanteCart.  Ive attached a csv.

thanks for your help with this.

I can open your file without any problems.
Maybe your soft dont like a delimiter but you can choose it when export
