search not working

Hi, i seem to have everything working, but the AbanteCart is a folder in my publichtml. so if you type in my url it shows INDEX OF and under AbanteCart. so website doesn't come up unless you click the hypertext word AbanteCart.
i tried moving files out of the AbanteCart folder into puplic html,. the website comes right up but after a bit it starts losing pictures and not working right. What should I do.

Check the store url setting you have in Admin > System> Store and check to what path set your domain name
