Title: Can I use same product description on my website?
Post by: BryanWalters on May 09, 2016, 08:00:24 AM
Can I copy the product description content from my competitors website? as we both selling the same product of same manufacturer.

Will it create any issue for my online business?

I guess the question is, who owns the rights to description (text).
If this description of the product provided by manufacture, you probably can use that. I would suggest to check with product manufacture on this.

If description is created by your competitor, I would not copy that. This can be easily noticed and will raise trust issue with your business.

That's right, I need to check with manufacturer first.

Thanks for the advice.

If you will make your product's content like it then you will be ready for Google penalty on your website beacuse you will paste copyied content onyour website and search engines hate it.

For one thing, copied content looks boring. It doesn’t at all distinguish your own website from those of your competitors. When people go online to search for a product they want to buy, they’re also looking for a bit or a lot of information on what that product is all about. If they see that you have the same copy-n-paste description that a dozen other e commerce websites are sharing between each other, they simply won’t notice you; your website won’t stick out at all.
