Needclarification on documentation please.

In Setting > General:
Allow Reviews :
Enable/Disable new review entry and display of existing reviews.

If I disable, then no reviews are allowed to be made an no reviews are shown, and reviews on the product pic is gone.

Within the Catalog > Reviews: one can turn a review off or on AFTER it has been submitted.
What I am looking for is a way to review the customer submitted reviews and approve them fr posting. Much as we can with approval of accounts.  Is there currently a way to do that?Need a way to keep out the crazies - not legitimate customers comments, and would be better to do that prior to the review being seen on the site.
IF not,  can we add that to the "would be great to have" in the next release requests?Lee

how can we add the Open Sans font to the editor fonts?  perhaps other too.

Also which version of ckeditor is used in the cart?

Extension Support / Product Features Tab missing after 1.1.8 upgrade

I have the Product Features extension installed - installed under 1.1.7  worked well. Since updating to 1.1.8 I am unable to find the tab in order to use the Product Features extemnsion.

 The extension is still installed and still on.  The products that have information in the tab are showing correctly in the product page  (see screenshot)

I have reloaded the extension.  Double-checked that is it set to ON.  But can not get the tab to re-appear in the Edit Products page.

I am starting with the Abantecart Admins for a solution as this seems to be an issue within the admin - edit product area,  but without being able to access the tab  - the extension is useless.  If admins believe it is not their issue, I will try getting help with Algozone - which usually is quite a useless process so am hoping admins here can resolve it.

General Support / Database error on currency

This is new to my installation:  previous to 1.1.8 update I only use US  currency on my cart.  In checking this error I see that Canadian, Eur and Pound Sterling are in my list. Only US is ON,  others are off.

this is the error:

2014-02-04 19:29:59 - database error:  AbanteCart core v.1.1.8 Error: MySQL server has gone away<br />Error No: 2006<br />UPDATE currencies

What do I need to do to correct this error?

Built-in Features / editing emails and other customer centric forms

While trying to change the email customers receive when an order has been placed I encountered some difficulty in the process of change.  I was able to figure it out,  but it more complex than this great cart should be.


With the files that are in the cart upload the syntax is poor - it says
Thank your for interest in (your busines name) products. Your order has been received and will be processed once payment has been confirmed.


At the least it should say
Thank you for your interest in (your busines name) products. Your order has been received and will be processed once payment has been confirmed.


But the real issue here is the process to make a change:
   First needed to search board and documentation - docs have no help,  board came up with this
   It is send by default. If you need to edit text look into:
   
   Model:
   storefront/model/checkout/order.php
   Template:
   storefront/view/default_html5/template/mail/order_confirm.tpl
   
So that got me to the template where one has to read the code to find the string  so you can
locate it within the Language Definitions or one can waste many tries on search hoping to find the string that is being used.  These are too difficult for a lot of users and more difficult than it should be for any user.


It is critical to customer relationships that the cart owner should be able to say on the emails text that is relevant to their business and at the least,  if Abantecart is going to pre-fill then the syntax needs to be correct, at the least.


Please consider enhancing this great cart by adding admin areas that show the form, email whatever and gives the link to the place there the language definitions are that control what is used.  One can't even use firebug on the emails to figure out what it might be called. 


My suggestion would be to add a section in the Design called Forms with something similar to the Layouts.  Ideally see the rendered form with the changeable UI showing would be quite  helpful

Hello,  I see in the list of new things there is noted the fallback banner in HTML5 slider is improved.  BUT,  I can't seem to find where that improvement is deployed.  Searching on Admin and on board did not locate anything to see this new solution.  Please give directions where this is.

Extension Support / PayPal Express warning after 1.1.8 update

I am having an issue with the PayPal Express extension - seems to be only with the bill me later button.  If I don't use the bml - I don't have the warning.

I  updated to version 1.1.8  yesterday.  Have reloaded the PayPal Extension today as seen in my extension screen:
Warnings:

Installation and Configuration / Secure key

On original installation there is a message that says:

Keep this secure key in save place.
This key is used to encrypt customer's secure data.
You will need this key if you move data to a different shopping cart installation.


and then it gives the key.

So where/ how do we use this information if we move the cart files to a new server or another location?  I searched, but couldn't find instructions.

 Wanted to start the New Year on a note of deep appreciation for abantecart, abolabo, Basara, and eCommerce Core; our great administrators for the board, and immensely helpful in helping us get our carts configured to our desires.  Admins,  you're absolutely the best!!
So to everyone, admins and abantecart users and board posters  - Happy 2014,  may it be the best year yet for all of us!

Installation and Configuration / index page setup

In a conversation with another Abantecart user a question arose that exceed my knowledge level to execute  - so all you code mavens how can we do this?

Facts:  abantecart files are all setup under subdirectory /store
Domain redirect is currently set from maindomain.com to maindomain.com/store 
And all works well.

How can one place the index page under the maindomain.com  and leave all the files within /store?

Objective is to have customer type in maindomain.com  and arrive at the Home page of the cart rather than an additional splash page or see the url change to maindomain.com/store.

General Support / Update for version 1.1.8 available date

Hi,  just checking in on updates.  Back in early November the expected 1.1.8 release was 2-3 weeks.  We're at 4-5 weeks now so thought I would see how it was coming along.

Thanks - Am hoping (wishing?) that some of my issues will be resolved in the update  :) Keep up the good work though, it is coming along nicely.

Installation and Configuration / another try on multistore setup

I am trying the multistore setup again-  I have re-read all the post I can find,  all the documentation on it.  And tried my very best to follow the directions, at least as I understand them.   I did not have success this time either.

Here in detail is what I have done today.

 Shop.mydomain.net   is the master (default) store
Demo. mydomain.net  (multistore#1) 
This is found – DNS is established Store Status set to ON
Store Name – Demo Store
Name Alias – left blank
Store URL  http://demo. mydomain.net/
Copy settings – used default selection . Got a Success message.
In cPanel added this :
demo.mystore.net/ redirects to http://shop.mydomain.net/
And it does exactly that - redirect to shop.mydomain.net.  Not what I want to see.
The .htaccess that was created during the process says this:

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^demo\. mydomain \.net$ [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.demo\. mydomain \.net$
RewriteRule ^/?$ "http\:\/\/shop\. mydomain \.net\/" [R=301,L]
So what do I change, and where to get the Demo Store to show up?
Please be precise - in where I need to make a change?  And what the change needs to be?
My sense says it's the redirect - but I followed the isntructions as I understood them.  Or perhaps the .htaccess needs some correction or addition. 
Thanks for helping.  I know there are several others out there that need better instructions as I have gotten PMs as to rather I have succeeded.

Installation and Configuration / replicating site for different owners

For my purposes I have determined that using multistore for my overall project is not the best solution - just too many stores to manage in multistore.  Therefore I will be replicating the master site for other users within my network.  I do have some extensions - both free and bought that will be needed in the new sites.

My question (concern) is how to manage the license files for each of the new sites.  Each additional site should be considered to be a totally standalone installation.   BUT I want to use all the setups, configurations etc that I have in the master.

What do you suggest is the easiest, fastest way to replicate a master site to a new standalone domain and not violate any licensing?  I do understand that I will need to purchase multiple extension licenses, and am not seeking to "re-use" an extension.

I am seeking guidance in advance of testing in hopes that it will shorten the process.  Thank you for whatever guidance you can provide.

Is there a way to add a column to the product listing grid?  Or will you consider adding the cost field into the next version?

For those of us that have frequent cost changes  which also impact the selling price it would be much easier and  considerably faster if the product grid had the cost field on that screen for editing purposes.  Rather than having to go to the edit screen at catalog/product/update&product_id and scroll down to the field.

Additionally,  a way to "lock" in a filter criteria until it is reset or deselected would speed up editing.   Currently one makes a filter selection,  then if you proceed to an edit,  a clone,  any action that takes you away from the grid,  when you return you have to start all over with the filter, etc.  If you could "lock in" the filter until you were done with that section - it would be much quicker when doing maintenance work.

Along with lock in of the filter - it would be great if you could extend the view setting to stay in place until replaced with a new selection.  If one is editing using a filter and sets it to All or more than the deault 10,  again  it refreshes back to the 10 with each return to the product grid.
