Thanks for the great information.  It sounds like you may be saying that it would be better or at least easier to just have the hosting provider do the ssl install....I checked and they said it would be for the entire domain I have which if I understand correctly would include the add-on domains..since they are under the main domain in the directory...I have webhostingpad for my hosting...  I am asking about the dedicated IP...perhaps that is already a part of what they do...I have found them to be a reliable hosting company so far...

Still not sure I understand the need of  the data encryption manager that is on abantecart, vs/ and/or the ssl package that I would get say from my hosting company...do I need both???   Or for the basics that I am doing will the ssl cover what I need?

After considering the information.  We feel it would be helpful for the customers peace of mind to have the ssl certificate...to show the little lock on the page when they are setting up an account on our website...

Is there a way to set up this so that it is only secured on the login, account, checkout, pages....but not on the general open pages?

Also I noticed that in the extensions there is a 'encryption_data_manager' extension...with a warning that it cannot be uninstalled once installed....I can get the ssl from the site abantecart suggested for $10.00 as he said...however I would like to have some info on what to do before starting with that....and do we use the above extension as part of this set up...

I have set up the tax rate location zone to be Michigan, and I can't see why it is charging tax for other zones...I have only set up one zone to be taxed...I would appreciate some help on this as I have read all I could find on this subject,....but must be missing something.

How can I create forms through abantecart 1.1.7?  for example, I have used jotform.com to create forms for email submissions, and various other kinds of forms.

I see there is an newsletter submission form built into the abantecart, however I would like to be able to edit that to add a checkbox for someone to choose to enter our monthly drawing for a free item. and to change the name from Newsletter sign up to something different.

I saw reference to flexy forms...don't know what this is, or how to

So really 2 questions:
1) how to build a form from scratch for submissions?
2) how to edit the Newsletter form on the cart

I have a question about how the mobile version works on the cart.  I have android on my mobile phone.  Using version 1.1.7 abantecart....when I go to a product that I have set up options to choose before adding to cart...

I have set up multi select box for the each choice ( example color, size, design choice)

On the regular site if I check a selection; the one that is checked by default will uncheck leaving one box checked....however on the mobile android o/s on my kyocera hydro; if I check another box, the default one stays checked and I have to manually uncheck it...if I do not uncheck it manually then the default selection is what goes to the shopping cart.

I hope there is an easy fix for this as I would like to have the website working on mobiles...would be great for business!

Is this problem one that needs to be dealt with at algozone? or is it one at abantecart...I understand from reading other posts that some of these extensions are in a different category...and how do I know which ones are sponsored by abantecart and which ones to go to algozone?

If they are free ones does that mean they are sponsored by abantecart?

I like the idea of a 'simple extension with replace or hook to controller/template'...
If JHammond53 or others would be interested in making that extension that would be great...A little beyond me yet.

Thank you for the reply.  I have tried to find the answer to this question...perhaps you know.  I have abante cart installed on an add-on domain.  would I install the ssl certificate on the main domain...and then it would apply to all the domains under it? Or, would it only apply to one domain...I believe if I do it through my domain hosting plan it applies to all the domains.

Do I need to have HTTPS activated on my domain?  It will cost me $30/ year with my hosting package.  I have PayPal standard account and I know that they process all the card information, however there is personal information on the personal account pages where individuals sign in for my store.  Is this information already secure or do I need to have https in order to have that be secure for my customers?

Can someone please enlighten me on this question?

Thank you.  I just want to say that I appreciate the clarification.  I also deleted all the products before considering that the pictures needed deleted and so I have all these pictures that I have to constantly work around in order to map a picture to another item which has already been uploaded.  Perhaps, later on I will take the time to do the work wof deleting them but for now perhaps we can help some others to avoid this.
