I don't want to ever use coupons, so on the Admin > System > Checkout page I have this setting:
"Coupon on shopping cart page: Allow customers to enter coupon code and see discount in the shopping cart."
set to OFF, but it still displays during Checkout. What's wrong? How do I make this "Apply Coupon" section NOT display?

All that matters to me is to NOT have anything about coupons displaying anywhere. Having a place to "Apply Coupon" displayed anywhere, especially during checkout, will make people without a "coupon" feel badly that they don't get a discount, and they might stop at that point and hope to find a coupon somewhere else.
How do I make EVERYTHING about "coupons" and "Apply Coupon" NOT display ANYWHERE?

Go to Extensions -> Order Total and disable Coupon with setting status to off.

Thank you very much. That fixed it. I didn't see this setting before. My mistake.
