Built-in Features / Re: Empty Category as Menu
« on: July 26, 2015, 12:35:36 PM »
Ignore my last question about determining what to put in Link. I figured out the documentation means you leave it blank and use the LINK TO PAGE or LINK to CATEGORY which will fill in Link field for you.  That was too easy!

Also, I am unclear how to determine what to put in the Link field. I know where I want it to link to. I just don't know how to determine its "link address". I need to link to Content, Categories, and External Blogs. I've already read the documentation.

I started off trying to use the default menu manager, but then our simple five tab menu became crowded by having the default elements (Account, Cart, Specials, Checkout). How do I separate them so my custom menu is separate from the default menu?

I like the look of the category menu (larger tab-type).  How can this be done using the Menu manager?

Built-in Features / Empty Category as Menu
« on: July 26, 2015, 03:25:36 AM »
I'm using Categories to create a menu structure. For the two empty categories which have no product "Blog" and "Events" which I want to link to external URLs, I need help.

I don't know how to apply the URL so that it works like a menu.
I don't know how to avoid displaying the "This category has no products."

Security / HTML Block use absolute addressing
« on: July 26, 2015, 02:25:54 AM »
My host first needs the site to be live to enable HTTPS, but site is not ready and I don't want to take  down current site until this new one can replace it within hours.

Related to this, I have a couple related questions:
1) Where do I learn about the development workflow to understand the sequence of standing up an e-com site to see if I'm overlooking something?

2) Some of my HTML Blocks use absolute addressing to build menu links, this means I have http:// , and anticipate that these links will break once the site switches to HTTPS. What can I do to minimize the "URL fixing" I have to do after HTTPS is enabled. I don't see a way to make links relative when building Blocks.

Security / Authorize.net
« on: July 26, 2015, 02:24:28 AM »
I'm new to e-commerce site development, but with AbanteCart, things are going pretty smoothly.

We plan to use Authorize.net as the payment gateway, but what I'm unclear about is if this means no PII is stored in AbanteCart. Who do I ask? Currently, I'm planning to get HTTPS and a signed certificate plus dedicated IP. Is this overkill?

Thanks in advance!

Built-in Features / shipping not available for our products
« on: July 26, 2015, 02:11:07 AM »
We require our customers to pick up their orders at a predefined week, but they can pick the location and date from a range. To make this available in AbanteCart check out process, how do I turn off shipping option and customize language, add extension (??) to enable scheduling a pick up date and secondly a return date.

Our products are "rented" for a 6 week period. Customers pick up and drop off product from a set of convenient locations which I want to display and show corresponding dates.

How can this be done in AbanteCart?

Thanks for your efforts. I'm still stuck.

Can you provide more details about how to locate the content _id? I'm using AbanteCart 1.2.2 with FoxY template, if that makes a difference.

Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place in admin to find the content_id. I've checked the Content Manager and the Categories.

When in Content Manager, I clicked on the content (Getting Started) which I want to determine it's URL.  The address bar displays //your_domain.com/a/index.php?rt=design/content&s=admin123&token=5ccd7c88d98ad2b1a44c8fae2d27cfef#rowNum=10000

It doesn't contain the term content_id.

Again, I'm trying to determine URL so I can build menu based on Category menu which link to external and internal pages. Plus, I need to link from an HTML Block to a Content page.

I'm not duplicating topics.

I'm now working in an HTML Block and want to link text to a Content page, but can't determine the URL for the Content page.

That's option is not available when I'm using Softaculous Apps Installer.
Is there some other way?

If I'm using Categories, then this advice doesn't apply.

I'm hoping to make use of Categories to create menus that link to internal and external pages. I've seen others do this. How is it done? Thank you.

The Resource Library has many images that I want to remove. They are the demo product images. Is there an easy way to delete?

I've been able to create a menu item called "Blog" and have it appear on the Category menu, but can't figure out how to link it to my external blog page. Secondly, another menu item is called Shop, and I want it to point to all products, but currently the page only says "There are no products to list in this category."

How do I use the Category menu as a link menu to internal and external pages?

I've created content pages. I want to link to those content pages from HTML block, but can't determine the URL.
