I have a problem with the Layout Manager admin page regarding the pages listed on the left (see screenshot).

1. I would like to remove the sample pages from the list. All samples and categories have been removed but these pages remain with no obvious way of deleting them.

2. What determines which pages are listed? For example, there is 1 Category page listed but a second category is not and I need to edit it?

I know this is really trivial but since everything else is perfect . . .  these tables are out of alignment and I can't see a fix.

Thinking further on this, I would still prefer to have the guest option available without the customer having to place an item in the cart. Is it possible to provide that?

You recommend using an extension as the best way to use a different template. I have read the developer's manual but it is too complicated for me to understand properly.  I only want to make minor changes to the default template - 10 files plus some images to be precise.  At present I am just keeping a backup of the files.  Is there a simple way to incorporate the changed files by using an extension and if so, how?
