Looks like we need some sort of hook.  Question being which is the best one..

Looked at:

http://www.abantecart.com/document_wiki/index.php/AbanteCart_Extension%E2%80%99s_Developer_Guide#Hooks

Which is still not terribly clear about hook names..

In :

class ControllerCommonPage extends AController {

public function main() {

//init controller data
$this->extensions->hk_InitData($this,__FUNCTION__);

.
.
.

        //init controller data
        $this->extensions->hk_UpdateData($this,__FUNCTION__);
}
}

Would the required  hook names be  onControllerCommonPageMain_InitData and onControllerCommonPageMain_UpdateData  or ??

no. mail-server can deliver  from sender to sender. it's absolutely normal behaviour.

So is not delivering from sender to sender when the server is configured that way.  Which is why I said MAY, not WILL.

Also - check that the address involved in sending is not blocked by an RBL used by the receiving server.

David

David, php use system mail-client (mailer), that works on webserver, for example, sendmail or simple ssmtp. If you have tuned up mailer you can set mail settings of you abantecart to "mail". Usually hosting servers already tuned up correctly.
If not - use "ssmtp" and set parameters.

testing mail-server before sending is not good idea. That process takes a lot of time. We should run multithread process for order changing, in other case customer will wait.

so.. i just tested mailing..
1. enable alert mails for new orders in setting->mail
2. When you change order status check "notify customer"

All emails was sent, after order confirm (to customer and owner), after order status to customer. All works right.

Some of these things may help avoid ending up in a spam bucket, sure.  But will not help much if the store owner uses their own mail server to send promotional mailings.  The RBL will still catch SMTP mediated mail.

In terms of testing to see if the email account is valid, I'd suggest that this should be an available option in account creation processes.  Better is to make sure that the address is entered twice and that both entries match.   In this case, given the report of multiple tests using the same account we might be safe in assuming that a bad email address is not the problem.

I should add that global means global.  Happening on every page, in every template no matter what.

Analytics, for example,  is not a template related activity, and we need to not lose the script because someone choses a different template or layout.  We also need to assure that the blocks placed for global features are not deleted or removed from display.

Can you please suggest the structure? This was original setup that we done to get started. Now at it gets more popular we need to have improved organization.

I have corrected the spelling.  :-[

Good start.

I'd begin by looking at the top level categories.  General Topics and General Category mean the same thing.  Leave General Topics as it is, leaving the forum names as is - this section is good.  Change General Category to Store Operations.   Add two new sections:  Site Construction and  Application Development.   Move the install and configuration and Templates sections into Site Construction.  Then move the Extensions  and add-ons and feature suggestions forums to Application Development.    Add an API discussion forum there, and a General Discussions forum in each new section.

I'd take a look after that and see what else occurs.  In the existing Built In Features forum, I'd add some specific sub-forums based on feature categories - but those should be given some careful consideration before actually adding anything..

This places a single script into the head of the page.

An asynchronous script is split into two (or more) script blocks at least one of which is placed in the foot of the page. (ie, just before the closing of the body).

Also, there are many instances in which placing a script at the bottom of the page is desirable.  I don't see a method which will accomplish this.

New Features Discussion / Re: Supplier Module
July 22, 2012, 12:36:15 PM
I believe what is being asked here is for the store owner to have the ability to allow a supplier's representative log into the cart admin and modify only selected content.  This would seem to be related to the "Expand modify permission to add, edit, delete" item in the roadmap.

The core of this road map item reads "Provide ability to set modify permissions for the sections with add, delete and edit privileges. This is relatevly easy to do with current set up of user_groups. Need to evaluate the demand for this with the poll first."

I would suggest no poll is needed.  This is a no-brainer in terms of meeting PCI requirements to be able to limit access in various ways.

BTW - I think what is being proposed here is rather risky in that it may allow suppliers to control your content and pose significant risk to the ability to achieve optimal organic search results....

I've been looking at the developers documentation.

We need to place an asynchronous script (two separate script tags, one initializing things for the other, which provides the final service).    The method provided for placing scripts seems to only support adding scripts into the header.

Am I missing something here??

Check also your mail server settings.

If sending from user@serviceprovider.tld to user@serviceprovider.tld  the server may refuse to post an email, as the mail user shouldn't need to post mail to themselves.

Also - check that the address involved in sending is not blocked by an RBL used by the receiving server..

Use add on developers, hosts and service providers to help build traffic.

One thing that could be done right away to help this process is to do some restructuring of the forums to provide clarity around where to find information that would be helpful to each of these types of partners.  Right now, questions about the usage of cart features and which features would be desirable to end users are mixed with questions about how such features do or should work. This is not helpful to either users or providers.

Allowing providers to link to their own sites, and providing the ability to post their own latest posts to those sites will help as well.  This should increase organic traffic from both search engines and other referrers..

Also - look at the forums and correct as many misspelled forum and subforum titles as you can.  Extensions can only be spelled correctly one way in each language/dialect used.  This type of thing is going to split keyword relevance between multiple 'words' and will probably reduce traffic relevance...

I was hoping that the queries might be being generated from associative arrays which we could somehow check for table names..  Shucks. :(

Andrew,

I'd call that a reasonable restatement of my report.

Is there no way during the test run to check to see if sufficient data has been input to generate a complete object insertion ??

General Support / Re: how to edit a Sub menu?

Oh.  One more silly behavior here.

I deleted the test menu entry.  It did not go away from the drop down menu, even after successfully deleted from the database.

:(

No.  I did not.

There really is no good visual cue to prompt the user to do so.

However, once I did, I do also find the entry, as you describe.

I would still describe this as a UI flaw based on two things.

The lack of visual cue, and the need to take multiple actions to achieve a single result.

The old fashioned folder icon which 'opens' the page to the contents of a parent may be old fashioned, but it definitely is well known and effective.  In fact, I've got a couple of customers who are pretty upset about the possibility of losing this UI affect if they migrate their carts.

I can replicate this issue in 1.0.3.

To reproduce:

1. Add a new menu item in design -> Menu tool.
2. Name it ("test")
3. Set the text ("Test")
4. Set the link ('index.php')
5. Set the parent ("Home")
6. check store front - new drop down item appears in the menu under "Home" listing.
7. Return to Design -> Menu page - no new entry for the Test menu object.
8. Clear browser cache - reload Design -> Menu page - still no new entry seen.
9. Clear site caches (minus error log) - no change
10.  Check error log:

2012-07-14 9:46:14 - runtime notice:  Declaration of AMenu_Storefront::_buildMenu() should be compatible with that of AMenu::_buildMenu() in <b>/home/lifesolu/public_html/dev/core/lib/menu_control_storefront.php</b> on line <b>280</b>
