[Please be precise - in where I need to make a change? And what the change needs to be?]

I am trying the multistore setup again-  I have re-read all the post I can find,  all the documentation on it.  And tried my very best to follow the directions, at least as I understand them.   I did not have success this time either.

Here in detail is what I have done today.

Shop.mydomain.net   is the master (default) store
Demo. mydomain.net  (multistore#1) 
This is found – DNS is established Store Status set to ON
Store Name – Demo Store
Name Alias – left blank
Store URL  http://demo. mydomain.net/
Copy settings – used default selection . Got a Success message.
In cPanel added this :
demo.mystore.net/ redirects to http://shop.mydomain.net/
And it does exactly that - redirect to shop.mydomain.net.  Not what I want to see.
The .htaccess that was created during the process says this:

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^demo\. mydomain \.net$ [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.demo\. mydomain \.net$
RewriteRule ^/?$ "http\:\/\/shop\. mydomain \.net\/" [R=301,L]
So what do I change, and where to get the Demo Store to show up?
Please be precise - in where I need to make a change?  And what the change needs to be?
My sense says it's the redirect - but I followed the isntructions as I understood them.  Or perhaps the .htaccess needs some correction or addition.

For my purposes I have determined that using multistore for my overall project is not the best solution - just too many stores to manage in multistore.  Therefore I will be replicating the master site for other users within my network.  I do have some extensions - both free and bought that will be needed in the new sites.

My question (concern) is how to manage the license files for each of the new sites.  Each additional site should be considered to be a totally standalone installation.   BUT I want to use all the setups, configurations etc that I have in the master.

What do you suggest is the easiest, fastest way to replicate a master site to a new standalone domain and not violate any licensing?  I do understand that I will need to purchase multiple extension licenses, and am not seeking to "re-use" an extension.

I am seeking guidance in advance of testing in hopes that it will shorten the process.  Thank you for whatever guidance you can provide.

Is there a way to add a column to the product listing grid?  Or will you consider adding the cost field into the next version?

For those of us that have frequent cost changes  which also impact the selling price it would be much easier and  considerably faster if the product grid had the cost field on that screen for editing purposes.  Rather than having to go to the edit screen at catalog/product/update&product_id and scroll down to the field.

Additionally,  a way to "lock" in a filter criteria until it is reset or deselected would speed up editing.   Currently one makes a filter selection,  then if you proceed to an edit,  a clone,  any action that takes you away from the grid,  when you return you have to start all over with the filter, etc.  If you could "lock in" the filter until you were done with that section - it would be much quicker when doing maintenance work.

Along with lock in of the filter - it would be great if you could extend the view setting to stay in place until replaced with a new selection.  If one is editing using a filter and sets it to All or more than the deault 10,  again  it refreshes back to the 10 with each return to the product grid.

It is my opinion that the banner statistic reports in it current form is fairly meaningless and adds too many records to the database.  In checking on my database there are over 6000 records and I am not even live - just building the site.

Currently there is no way to reset the stats to zero with the reports area and in the products viewed reports which makes it more difficult to manage.

Additionally,  there should be a report date range request that would make this perhaps more meaningful over time.

There are more functionality features that could be and perhaps should be added to make this report useful rather than just the rapidly expanding database placeholder that it currently provides.  But just adding the reset and the date range request would trememdously improve the usefulness of this report.

Please consider adding this function:  The ability to use multiple email address for different functions. Rather than having to use just one all inclusive email for everything as it seems the system is limited to at this time.

As an example:
orders from orders@mystore.com
newsletters from newsletter@mystore.com (I am probably able to do that by adding the Mail Chimp)
contacts us from customersupport@mystore.com
That type of thing.

I haven't been able to find a post or a documentation to answer my question, so if anyone knows thanks in advance for sharing.

I would like to have different emails address for different functions -  one for the orders notifications,  a different one for the contact us, etc.

There seems to be only on field in the Settings > Details tab

Settings >Mail  has sections for mail parameters  but I don't know precisely what they do and it doesn't seem that they will accomplish my goal. 

There is also the Additional Email Alerts system but that seems to only send copies of  emails to several different email addresses,  and will not accomplish my goal of having orders go to one address and contact us to another.

Hello Abantecart support!  Thanks for making this cart. 

Here's what seems to need a solution:  when there are code fixes and extension updates (Abantecart extensions)  how does one know this?  Currently there is a need for the PayPal Express Checkout to have a fix this to be available in a couple of days - So how do those of us who have that extension know there is a fix and what we need to do - download the latest version or go to github, etc?

Reading the board frequently gets me some of the fixes - but if they came prior to my starting on the board a couple of months ago - it's not a sure thing I will get know.

Can you perhaps make a new section on the board that actually posts fixes and updates to extensions.  This would need to inform us in addition to what is being fixed as to which version the fix is for - ex.    http://forum.abantecart.com/index.php/topic,1208.0/topicseen.html  This was good information if one wants to disable the review -  And if running ver 1.1.7.  I am assuming once 1.1.8 is ready,  it will include this.  Therefore the fix needs to state that it is for versions 1.1.7 and earlier (if that is correct) 

Just going to github - doesn't quite do it.  I never know exactly what the code is really fixing - and rather I need it or not.

I haven't been successful in finding where to change the display size on the Brands Scrolling for the manufacturers on the html5   template home page.

I have changed  the settings > appearance to 80 x 57 and that works on the product pages for the manufacturer but the setting on the home page Brands Scrolling remains at 57 x 57.

I am having difficulty in removing the demo images from the resource library.  I installed the demo,  I have deleted the demo products.  But cannot get the images to delete using the resource library tools.

You can see by the attached that there is nothing mapped to the image.
But it refused the command to delete the image.
How do I clean this up?  Other than go into the databases (3) and removing them?

I've only encountered this issue on the Resource Types data export.  The data exports,  but opening it results in an error of too many columns.

All other data exports that I have tried to date do not have this issue.

does the multistore use it's own domain name?  Since we have to direct it to the default store,  does it use the default store url

Here's what I mean,

default is  mymainstore.com
second store is  secondstore.com

What is in the url when a customer goes to secondstore.com?
What I want them to see is secondstore.com

Since adding a mutistore  I am now getting warning on every Product I add. I don't know if these warnings are due to the unsuccesful multistore attempt- or there is another issue.
I have not deleted the additional store while awaiting a reply for getting it setup correctly.

I am running version 1.1.7.   I have used the Create New Store link.   On the admin panel it does show there are two stores,  default and demo. 

Both are subdomains on the same domain:  store.mydomain.net  (default)  and demo.mydomain.net
Categories and Products has the demo store showing in the select box for Stores:

The admin panel when the demo store is selected has the correct link http://demo.mydomain.net/

However,  when I try to use http://demo.mydomain.net/  I do not see a shopping cart.

I am either missing some essential instruction from the documentation on how to hook the demo store to the Master (default) store,  or there is an issue.

Additionally,  there are NO files within the mydomain.net/demo  folder.  Are there suppose to be something within the multistore files?

ALSO:  is there a way for enable a new multi-store to place a check in the categories and products that are in the Master (default) store.  Having to go thru one by one is quite time consuming as it seems to require 2 two-screen function to get to the correct place to click on the store selection.

I am getting App Warnings with the PayPal Express Extension.   I don't know if this is an  AbanteCart issue or an extension issue.   I am starting with AbanteCart

I tried reinstalling the extension.  I did uninstall the previous installation.  And the extension does show as 'ON' in the extensions page.  The blocksare enabled on the pages do go to the PayPal when clicked.  So what is this error and how do I fix it?

When using the cloning feature -  some things do not clone into the copied product.

What can I changed to make 'tags'  one of the items?

Also,  I added the extension for product_features, the tab shows up,  but none of the selections from the original product do.  Is this something that can be remedied.  I realize this is a third-party extension,  but the cart picks up the options associated with product_features,  just not the input.

Running version 1.1.7  with the html5 template.   Needing help with the template layout pages.

I am getting extra pages in the left column.   I know they are being added when I click on the page layout within the product input area. 

My questions:

How can I remove them from the listing that show up?

How can I get the template settings on the default product page to flow thru to the all the product pages? 

In working in the EDIT USER GROUP section -  I am having difficulty in some of the links, and some quite unsatisfactory results in trying to find what the links go to.

I am of course logged in as the administrator.  As seen here:

All of the entries show  GO TO PAGE  when hovering.  However the results are varied:

Some links actually work and go to the page it controls.

some places I get this - with no ability to log in.  Note: this seems to happen a lot with anything that has 'extension' in the title.

I don't know if these differing results on GO TO PAGE click are by intention or there is an issue. 

But a more reliable way to determine what the link is linking to would be appreciated.

I am getting a lot of errors,  so many the log file has been truncated - all citing  the same line

I am using version 1.1.7  with the html5 template.   Under Products >  Global Attributes one can set up options.  In the Extension store there is Product Features or Attributes.   They seem somewhat similar to me.  Can you explain the  functional difference in them?

It almost looks like the extension was written for earlier versions and perhaps it have been added to the later versions?

I am basically looking for a way to add  product size, other than just typing in the description area. ( not shipping wt).

When one has a multistore setup  I have some ongoing maintenance and extensions questions. 


What happens when you have extensions installed? 

In particular,  extensions that have fees?  Do we need to purchase an extension for every store?  or is it inherited during setup?  If additional purchase - what about multiple license fees at reduced cost?

When there is a version upgrade,  and it is run on the master - is it also necessary to run it on each of the store in some manner or are the features  shared from the master upgrade?

These are important operational issues for deciding how to manage sites after setup.
