Installation and Configuration / https redirect
« on: November 01, 2018, 06:05:30 PM »
Hi there,

I have my store setup in a subfolder, like mydomain.com/store

I have an htaccess file in mydomain.com that includes code to force https and www use.

My problem is that the AbanteCart htaccess file stored in my /store subfolder overrides this because I have SEO on. So if a person types url mydomain.com/store, browser takes person to mydomain.com/store (no www and no https). When this happens, some of the AbanteCart icons don't display.

If person types mydomain.com/anyotherfolder it will direct to https://www.mydomain.com/anyotherforlder.

I have tried a few things to correct this but no success. I either break the SEO ulrs or worse.

I know that when I delete the htaccess file under /store, then the url will redirect with the https and www

Anyone know what code to add so that I can have https, www, and SEO urls?

Thanks, I did have the admin panel page open on a different tag. I guess that page was generating those requests.

Hi,

I decided to see what "Browser Console" was in Firefox and got two warnings on my AbanteCart installation. Both warnings show up on all the pages I tested (store side - up to checkout page). No clue what they mean or why they exist, HOWEVER, when I looked more closely, I noticed that there is a request made that includes the name of my admin folder. Anyone with a little bit of knowledge about AbanteCart cart can use this to find the admin page thus defeating the purpose of having a 'changed' admin page address.

Please look at attachment. Blotted out lines are where my admin folder name is listed. The line that displays this and then causes the warning is for whatever reason a recurring one. That is the request is made every so many minutes.

Any thoughts on how to solve this would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Tips and Tricks / Re: How to set up ad tracking
« on: October 09, 2018, 04:02:20 PM »
Thanks,

What I would like to do is to create an ad banner for placement in someone else's website and be able to track how many clicks I get from that ad.

I don't understand how to go about doing this.

Tips and Tricks / How to set up ad tracking

Hi,

I can't seem to remember how to set up ad tracking in AbanteCart. I have gone through so many e-commerce softwares that I may be confusing capabilities...

I know how to use a graphic banner and give it a link, but how to I create a special link with a tracking number so that I can monitor ad campaigns from different websites?

Thanks

Upgrade / Re: Upgrade glitches from 1.2.12 to 1.2.13
« on: September 08, 2018, 05:06:04 PM »
SOLVED

Home Banner:
- Had to delete all banner settings and re-do them from scratch. Now home slide banner works.

Super Menu:
- Even though I had problems with it on my clone after upgrade, it worked just fine on my upgraded live site.

Found out more information:

After digging a little bit, noticed that the upgrade process wiped all the settings I had for my super menu. Re entering data solved this problem.

Slide banner issue is still under research.

I checked my modified theme and non of the two files you mentioned are included in it. So it is using default theme for those.

Got some more information,

I did the template debug on my life store and noticed there are two blocks the upgraded clone no longer displays.

One is block:

Block ID: 4649
Name: content_top
Controller: common/content_top
Path: storefront/controller/common/content_top.php
Template: storefront/view/bluestarway_theme/template/common/content_top.tpl
Parent:    page

The other block is:

Block ID: 5549
Name: banner_block
Controller: blocks/banner_block
Path: extensions/banner_manager/storefront/controller/blocks/banner_block.php
Template: storefront/view/bluestarway_theme/template/blocks/banner_block/flex_slider_banner_block.tpl
Parent:    content_top

I went to Design -> Layout and the 'home page slide' block is still active in the 'Content Top' block holder

For the super menu, both life and upgraded clone show same number of blocks, however upgraded clone doesn't display the super menu.

NOTE: I'm using a template clone of the default AbanteCart cart template. Maybe some files I changed in my template clone? I know I did slowed down the banner rotation time.

I cleared cache and problem remains.

The life site using version 1.2.12 displays both super menu and banner.

The clone was made using softaculous so I could test the upgrade. Before upgrade the clone was displaying both super menu and banner.

After upgrade both were gone.

I did a completely new clone and tested it with the same results.

I did as you suggested and I have included an image of the information I think you asked for

Hi,

Just upgraded a clone of my life store to 1.2.13 and got two glitches:

1. My front main rotating banner no longer displays

2. The 'super menu' extension which I used to replace the default navigation menu is also gone.

Error log is empty and system check reports no issues.

Any thoughts?

I don't understand what you mean. Is this in regards to the function of my store?

You know, one thing I noticed playing around is that when you move the 'content' block to the top line of the 'footer', it will change how it is displayed and list all content as a list.

That's better but still not quite to my liking.

Then, I began playing around with blocks (not lego but AbanteCart cart ones) and noticed that there is an option to create a "data listing" block... and then light bulb went on...

...if I could have the option of "custom content" under the 'listing data source' I would be able to create my own header for a block and include just the content pages I want under that header and then make another block with a custom header with just the content I would like to show under that header and viola! I would get what I want.

Now, is this doable for a non developer? What would be the code?

Any thoughts?

Templates / Tweaking the cart on header - default theme
« on: June 21, 2018, 08:54:11 PM »
Hi,

I have been tweaking the top cart on the top header line and have two cosmetic issues I couldn't figure how to fix.

1. When I hover over the cart and I get the drop down showing cart contents, the box that appears is larger than then size of the original cart area and is shifted to the left, leaving the 'pointy arrow' pointing outside the cart box. See image.
-- Where do I control the width of the drop down box or the cart box?

2. The other issue I would like to fix is: if you look really close at the height of the 'search' box and the 'cart' box displayed on the top header, you will notice that the cart box is slightly bigger than the search box.
-- Where do I control the height of both the search box and the cart box?

Looked and looked around but the code lines I could not find...

Thanks for your help.
