I've not changed the layout of any pages.  I dont even input the manufacturer on any of my products so I'm a bit confused.

Whereabouts in AbanteCart can I look for the pages database you've asked for please?

General Support / Latest Products Not Showing Items I Have Imported
« on: February 23, 2013, 09:23:30 AM »
Items that I have imported using a CSV file are not showing up on the Latest Products section of AbanteCart.

What I have done is manually create an item in the group I want to add products in to and then export all products to a CSV file.  I have then deleted all but the item I just manually downloaded and then used file as a template (making sure I add Insert at the beginning of each one).

The product I manually added to my site has shown up in the Latest Products section but the ones I uploaded via the CSV file do not.  I copied down the date/time from the item I created manually - is this the issues - do I need to change the times slightly or something (maybe it's getting confused)?

Thanks.

General Support / Critical Error - Error in data of page with controller...
« on: February 23, 2013, 12:32:24 AM »
I've just logged in to the back end of my shop and noticed I have the following critical error:

Error: Error in data of page with controller: 'pages/product/manufacturer'. Please check for key_value present where key_param was set

I'm not sure what this means so can anyone help me fix it or can I safely ignore it?

Thanks.

Tips and Tricks / Re: Import Products CSV
« on: February 18, 2013, 08:34:11 AM »
The import feature is nice and easy to use.  The best way to do it is manually add a product and then perform an export and use that file as a template.

I've tried lots of different platforms and I found the Import feature of AbanteCart the easiest to use.

Feedback on My Store / Just Wanted To Say Thanks!
« on: February 18, 2013, 08:23:38 AM »
Over the last few days I have tried and tested around 12-15 different ecommerce platforms and I have decided to go ahead and use AbanteCart for the following 3 reasons:

1) It has a slick and clean theme
2) The Import/Export to and from a CSV file works the best out of all the ones I have tried
3) The backend is simple and easy to use with lots of handy features

The only thing I wish there was more of, was more free themes as even if you had just 6 or so free themes to choose from (maybe even an option to change the themes colours) would attract more users to your excellent shopping cart.

Thanks for that :)

I'm sure I had an 'Information' section on my site when I started but I must have got 'trigger happy' and deleted it by mistake.

I guess I use my domain name followed by the seo information relating to the page as a link so I'm off to give it a go now!

General Support / Re: Google Analytics

This seems to be a lot of work to get Google Analytics on your site.  In other shopping carts you just paste your Google Analytics code in to a box and press save - is this going to be a feature in future release (please)?  :)

Support / Image/Photos Order
« on: February 17, 2013, 10:38:01 AM »
Is it possible to change the order of the photos associated with a product?

I've just added a product that has 2 images, one of the front and the other of the back but no matter what I do the photo of the back is the primary image and I need it to be the front so need to know how to change the order of the photos/images please?

Thanks.

I've just updated most of the 'Content' pages (found under Design > Content) but can't see where they are on my actual site?

On reading the manual it says it should be automatically displayed so I must be doing something wrong, how can I get them displayed?

Just to be clear, I'm talking about the About Us, Shipping and Returns Policy pages.

Thanks.  :)

Getting your website indexed by a search engine can (in some cases) be a dark art as they are under no obligation to index any sites submitted to them.

To get your site indexed by a search engine like google, first of all you need to submit it to them - dont pay anyone to do this, just search in google itself on how to add a website to the google index and you'll see how easy it is.

Then you need to 'make some noise' by getting your website name out there.  What I mean by this is if you are a member of an internet forum then put your website address in your signature and the next time a search engine indexes that site they will come across your link and take a look at your site.  If you are not a member of an internet forum or only a member of one then join as many as you can/like and become an active member posting as often as possible so your signature with your website link in it is displayed as many times as possible.

Use Twitter, FaceBook and start a blog and link to your website through all of these.

By doing all of this you'll have created a lot of 'noise' meaning there is more change that your site will get listed high up int he google rankings.

It's not a quick thing and can take weeks or even many, many months for your site to be fully indexed.  Content is key, the more text you have on your site the more there is for search engines to index.

Good luck!

:)
