General Support / Re: Qty box only needed on certain products

You can make qtty field as a hidden field with value of 1

Here is the template/line where it is shown

Here where you can change to hidden:

If you do not use extension/hook for this change, it can be wiped after next upgrade. Keep this in mind.

Did you mean to give me 2 of the same template line? Just wondering if you meant to send me link to another file to change

General Support / Qty box only needed on certain products
« on: July 21, 2021, 07:00:47 PM »
Need opinion on best way to go about this.
I have different products with different needs for the QTY box (Shows on product page and in cart and is not a block that can just be hidden). For business cards I want them to select the qty from a select box (see attachment. By putting product price at 0 and making this list, the customer has to choose between 50, 100 and 250 cards and gives a specific price for that selection. This works perfectly.  But on these business card pages I do not want the other QTY box to show .

Now on other pages I want the default QTY box for things like Copies/prints and flyers because they can give me an exact qty that they need, and the price is per page.

How can I delete or hide the QTY box from some, but not all product pages. I don't know much about hooks but I could probably learn, unless there is any other suggestion on how to go about this.
I'd love your thoughts on this and if I need a hook, what should I look at to learn

Thanks in advance.

Honestly, I noticed it and thought it was odd, but a friend was looking at the site for me, but he had apparently left it for a while (This I wasn't aware of until later, I thought he saw it just after making his test account) and also commented on it . Thats when I started to look at it closer.

Thank you so much for your replies. I do remember your username, you were always great help.  I didnt even think about using my old login to the forum until I noticed a phrase on an old post I was reading and it hit me that it was the old me answering the old post lol

Like I said, that part I now understand, it was a timeout.
Take a look at this closer view, maybe that will help with why I feel it is confusing for customer as to why they are on the login page again.
Again, I am just suggesting it may be confusing for the customer, just as I was confused when I had it open for a while.

Template Support / issue editing email templates
« on: July 18, 2021, 04:48:22 PM »
I seem to have an issue with editing the email templates. When I click on the icon to edit one, it  takes me out of admin and directly to my website (the url it takes me to is  Prior to my fresh reinstallation, I would see the template and could edit it.

I do not have this issue with editing forms etc. it takes me to the editing screen as it should with everything else.
I cleared cache and tried again. I even tested it with another computer which I have never used before for admin or to go to my website and it does exactly the same thing.
I am using version 1.3.0. with A2 hosting

I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue

This is what I see in my error log:

EDIT:      I finally ran across another post that had same issue. This worked for me as well :

To solve an issue needs to replace file  public_html/core/lib/config.php
with this

I waited some time before checking again and it happened. So I come to the conclusion that it is a timeout that is logging off the customer, which is a good thing,  however, the customer still sees the "welcome back xxx" on the screen. If it has an automatic time out log off,  I would expect it to show as logged off instead of "welcome back xxxx". Also, the long list includes "Login" at the top of the list and also at the bottom, "Not xxx? Logoff". as though it is logged off (showing "login") and also logged in ("Not xxxx? Logoff". ) at the same time.

that is not the behavior that any normal installation has.  If you are logged into your account and click on the check order  it goes to  My Order History.   Perhaps you have adjusted some of your coding again?!?!

If you think your customers will be unable to hover over the Welcome Back to see the dropdown -  you can change the title in localization>language definitions

Thanks for the reply.

I tried to recreate the issue again, but it did not happen. I will wait a while and see if time has anything to do with it since it had sat for a while before I did it before.

On the issue of the list, I was pointing out that most websites would have the longer list ( Wishlist, edit account details, downloads etc) show up when you click on the word "account" , not when you click or hover over the "welcome". It was just a suggestion. I do realize you also have the longer list show on the page, so not a big issue, just thought it was odd.

I hope this is where to post this suggestion.
I have been doing some testing as though I were a customer. I noticed that when I am logged in  and click on "ACCOUNT" to see my wishlist etc, it takes me to a login screen (As you can see in screenshot, I am already logged in, so this does not make sense to me). I also only see "login" and "Check your order" when I click on the word "account". I tried clicking on "Welcome back second (The name of my test account") and that is where I see the full list for my account. It seems to me, this list should actually show up under the word "account" instead. most customers are not going to click on the words "welcome Back".
What are your thoughts?

Configuration / Re: help correcting product grid view

Unfortunately, I could not find the inconsistency. I finally gave up and deleted , then reinstalled Abantecart. So far it is working. One thing I did notice is that it now shows the category above the subcategories listings on the webpage and I believe this is how it should look. It did not show the category before, even from the beginning before I had worked with any of the code.
I appreciate the time you took in looking at this issue for me.

I appreciate the reply, however I have gone as far as disabling every block except the content area re-added the products, (Yes I'm refreshing each time :)) , still no luck. See attached screenshot when I do inspect on the page. It seems to be something in the code I believe, but I'm having a hard time finding where the actual content is in my file manager. I made sure I had hidden files enabled. Note the first product (Everyday business cards) Has a line above it that says "thumbnails grid row list-inline", the 2nd one (Premium business cards) does not. there is also a "Before" and "after" here that I wonder if has anything to do with it. I however cannot even find where this code is in order to edit it.

I went to the demo files to compare, I did an inspect on that page, and it does look like the products should all be in between the "Before" and "after", where as mine are not.  but as I said, I have been through all the Cpanel files and cannot find where to edit this. Also since I have not altered anything except removing jumbotron on another page, I don't know why it would not act like the demo does. (Just mentioning in case it is a bug)

I used softalicious to install this and I am using the most up to date version

Thanks again in advance

There is a lot to consider. WP was originally made for blogs, but has implemented many ways to make a website without the blogging features, but you will need to put in time to do that.
If you want an actual website with a lot of catagories, products, and a shopping cart and that is easy to learn Abantecart is the way to go. You can actually even combine them (Have a WP site and use Abantecart for the actual shopping cart). They are both going to take a little patience to learn if you are brand new to making your own site.
Personally I use WP for one page sites that just have info and are not selling anything, and Abantecart for ecommerce because I can customize it any way that I want and it is set up from the beginning to sell.
I hope that helps.

Configuration / help correcting product grid view

I really hate posting another question :( but I have inspected the page, looked at style.css etc, looked at the way my 3 product details are in admin (all exactly the same).  and I cannot figure out why one product looks wonderful (The top one on the screenshot) and the other 2 are showing completely different on the page. ideally, I would like all to be in a horizontal row. I seriously cannot find anything that I have done different with the top one compared to the other 2. I have even deleted the products one by one and added new, still shows the same way.  If you could tell me what I should check and/or where, it would be so helpful.

Sidenote: when I used abantecart before, I learned it rather quickly and was able to help other posters eventually  (Unfortunately I got very ill and had to step away from that business, but I'm back now with a new business). I can't wait to get to that level again. You guys are wonderful!
