General Discussion / Product Options - adding more than one...
« on: August 14, 2016, 11:05:12 AM »
At the moment as far as I can tell, if you add 'Gift Wrapping' as a product option, you can't give the customer several colourways to choose from via several check boxes?

Eg. If I add Gold Paper as an option at £1 but I want to give them an option of Silver Paper at £1 too, two check boxes appear BUT, the customer can check both and be charged double for gift wrapping, instead of simply selecting the one paper colour they prefer.

Am I wrong? Is there actually a way of editing the gift wrap options to allow the customer a choice?

ALSO: In the 'Colour/Size' option - if you want to add colour options - where can you add to the range of colours that are an option? At the moment there is a limited range such as red, green etc. with no visible means of editing.

I've looked everywhere but can't find where any of the above could be edited.

SEO / Re: Blocking Unwanted Spider Crawls
« on: April 03, 2016, 09:07:02 AM »
I've tried *all the methods listed on that webpage. None blocked Baiduspider.

*The final suggestion was to block IP addresses. This is the method I have just implemented as of today.

We'll know if this method is successful in a couple of days.

Update: Code 403 Forbidden hits have risen from a static 21 to 3000. So it is possible that blocking IP access via the .htaccess file is having an impact.

I have still had 80,000 hits from Baiduspider in 2 days however...

Doesn't work.

Baiduspider is resistant to attempts to block it through robot.txt and also .htaccess.

Modifying both files has made diddly squat difference to the volume of crawls from Baiduspider.

As a last resort I am trying to block the IP - they use multiple IPs but they all start the same so I have added this to the .htaccess file:

Deny from 180.76.15.

Hopefully, this will work.

Specifically> baiduspider from baidu.com

So annnoying.

Apparently it originates from China or thereabouts and it is bombarding my website with thousands of crawls which are eating up my bandwidth.

I want to block it altogether but can't find an easy way to do this. Anyone know an easy way?

On a previous cart I used to use, there was a page within Admin which listed all the spiders/bots/search engines, which had access to the site and you could allow/disallow access with a click.

Is there anything like this within Abantecart? Or an Extension for this?

Is tinkering with the htaccess file the only option?

Any answers to any of the above would be appreciated even if it means pointing me to where this query has already been answered somewhere.

Thank you.

New Features Discussion / Re: Pl fix the pricing issue ...

I have switched from prestashop to abantecart because prestashop is a nightmare to upgrade. It also didn't seamlessly integrate with PayPal  express checkout. When I raised these issues on their forum I received snotty responses which did nothing to resolve the issues.

I hope abantecart is not like this and actually takes the amendment suggestions provided by users on board - we want the cart to work or our online business will fail.

New Features Discussion / UK English
« on: January 06, 2016, 06:18:20 AM »
At the moment the default English is American English which means there are numerous incorrect spellings plus it means the site defaults to a US location on certain extensions such as delivery/payment options.

There is also a US flag showing by default at the top of Admin.

A UK English language extension, defaulting the site to a UK location, would be appreciated.

Customization help / Editing the Footer
« on: December 31, 2015, 03:20:15 PM »
Hi,
I have just installed and have been trying to find the correct file to edit the footer but can't find it.

I tried to get rid of the donation button from within Admin but removing the donate block did not remove the button from the footer of my site.

I want to change the 'Powered by...' and remove the 'Contribute' donation button?

Anyone know where the correct file lives? I'll be using ftp to access it and edit it.

Help would be appreciated  :)
