Yes,  that would be great for the extensions and versions updates.

But please consider a section on the board also -  for codes fixes, etc.  I don't believe the notification message area is the correct place - for things things like the Catalog images centering changes,  or the linking content fix,  etc.

I think you might find your solution by using the options functions - here's the documentation link.

You can establish  dropdown or radio buttons for all of your sizes and require your customer to make a selection from one of the sizes. 

So  in an example you have cards  and the options are

1000 pcs
2500 pcs
5000 pcs

On the description your customer see all of the sizes,  clicks on the size they want and then qty makes more sense to them.  1 pak of 1000 size or 2 paks of 1000 size,  etc.

Just an aside in this discussion -  I think keeping your files as compact as possible is always the best policy in the long run.  If you continue to have lots of images that you're not using (or planning on using)  these files just keep growing and will slow down your delivery.  The same is true for keeping the databases clean.

For me it is a compounded issue as my site will be replicated for a large number of store owners.   So keeping the files lean is a bigger consideration for me as an extra gig per store adds quickly for a couple of hundred sites. 

My point in this post was that the order of deletion is highly important in the management of resources in this cart.  I was a much more involved process to clean all the info out over several databases and the graphics files that I would have hoped for.  This would not have been necessary if on deleting the graphic a message flagged to say this is mapped -  unmap it first.

But Abantecart says they are working on the way resources are managed so I am hopeful all will improve soon.

I was referring to calling the buttons on the template -  within Design > Layout  you can enable or disable rather a page uses the block. 

If I had no "calls" from a page I wasn't see the warning.

Hello Abantecart support!  Thanks for making this cart. 

Here's what seems to need a solution:  when there are code fixes and extension updates (Abantecart extensions)  how does one know this?  Currently there is a need for the PayPal Express Checkout to have a fix this to be available in a couple of days - So how do those of us who have that extension know there is a fix and what we need to do - download the latest version or go to github, etc?

Reading the board frequently gets me some of the fixes - but if they came prior to my starting on the board a couple of months ago - it's not a sure thing I will get know.

Can you perhaps make a new section on the board that actually posts fixes and updates to extensions.  This would need to inform us in addition to what is being fixed as to which version the fix is for - ex.    http://forum.abantecart.com/index.php/topic,1208.0/topicseen.html  This was good information if one wants to disable the review -  And if running ver 1.1.7.  I am assuming once 1.1.8 is ready,  it will include this.  Therefore the fix needs to state that it is for versions 1.1.7 and earlier (if that is correct) 

Just going to github - doesn't quite do it.  I never know exactly what the code is really fixing - and rather I need it or not.

Thanks for considering a more concise way for users to find this information.

I think the best thing is to wait until the extension update is completed -  I have varying results when testing various settings adjustment just now.  It seems if I remove all the blocks from all of the pages and uncheck the extension block - the warnings cease.

For the option of BML to show up on the checkout payment part you are right the Extension settings need to have the BML selected. However, if a customer goes to PayPal checkout they are offered the BML option there, within PayPal.  The click box in the extension only effects rather you advertise on your checkout pages with the BML.

Additionally you can place BML tags on your pages using the blocks.  This is done via Design > Layout tabs and finding the area you want to have the block appear in.  But again this is just advertising BML option.

AbanteCart support -  I am also having the same error show up -  since Nov 15 only.  Prior to that no error.

David -There are two PayPal Express Button Blcoks, you can stop the warnings by turning the BML button off and use only the Paypal Link until AbanteCart can give us a solution.  I am not having any issue with the plain paypal_express_check_out_button block,  only with the paypal_express_check_out bml_button

Hi Ron,

There are two elements in administering Users: 
First you need to have a User Group defined as to what a user assigned to the group has access to. There are 16 pages of options you can assign to a User Group.

There is already a Top Administration set in the original applications and is uneditable and cannot be cloned.
But there is a global select box in the header area that will turn all options on with a single click.

Then once you have your User Groups set up to can assign users to whichever group is appropriate.  And yes you can easily reassign a user to a different group.  Just select the user,  then in the dropdown box User Group you can change their group.

Thanks for the recap Junkyard on the Free Shipping extensions it was quite helpful.

But I would like to expand this issue discussion to the include how Coupon (Free Shipping) as found in Sales > Coupons  > Coupon (Free Shipping) might be used to accomplish a per item free shipping.

Coupons seem to have the ability to apply to specific products as seen here in the documentation http://www.abantecart.com/ecommerce-documentation/38-admin-user-manual/sales-menu/coupons

I have tested limitedly and it seems to work, but I am not quite competent in guidance as to ALL of the settings for shipping and coupons  and how they really interact yet.

If you know or test this out,  please post your findings.

the height of 56 or 57 is okay,  how/where can I alter the width?   Most of my brands seem to display better at rectangle as opposed to current square.

No Ron,  I've not done anything but work on developing the site to display the way I wish on the English side.

It is my intent once I've gotten that done,  to try the Google API translation.   I just wanted to be stabilized in the English before I added more potential variables to trace thru.

I will post here when i actually have worked out my solution.

Hi Ron,

Let me refer you to an exchange I had earlier about multi language translation  - my take away is that to get it work properly one needs to get the Google Translation and subscribe to their service.   I have not done that yet so can't address if it really solve the  problems.

Let me know how you solve your translation problem -  and if I get to working on mine first will let you know the results.

It's a block also, Ron.

You can go to Design  > Blocks

then type in Contact Us in the Name box  (see the attachment)

Click on the edit and you can make it say what you wish.


BTW what template are you using?  I am most familiar with html5.

Hi Ron,

I think you're missing something -  there is a "search" block that you can use in your templates.  Do you not have that on yours or are you looking for a different type of search?

The default html5 has it in the downloads -  it is located in the top bar where the logo is.

But you can enable it with the "search" block anywhere on your template.

Templates / change size on brands scrolling block

I haven't been successful in finding where to change the display size on the Brands Scrolling for the manufacturers on the html5   template home page.

I have changed  the settings > appearance to 80 x 57 and that works on the product pages for the manufacturer but the setting on the home page Brands Scrolling remains at 57 x 57.
