Title: Save/Cancel Button Missing
Post by: gordontaylor on January 19, 2014, 10:16:01 PM
In the edit product script, the Media tab has NO Save/Cancel button at the bottom of the page. All the other tabs do.

Hi Gordon,

It's doesn't really need one there.  All the changes that take place on the Media link are actually over in the Resources.

If you click on the unmap you will see that it makes the confirm and relates to the resources area.
If you edit - it takes you to the resources area.
If you delete - it confirm and relates to the resources area. (Note:  when you delete within the Media tab,  you're only deleting the graphic from that product,  not from the resources area.

There is a save button within the resources.  Remember some resource items may be used (mapped) to several different products.  So managing items is correct to be done within the Resources area.

I think that should help explain.  If not,  continue the questions.

Every other tab in that group has a save/cancel button. I like to save things after I make a change or add something before changing tabs.

If all the other tabs have one, why should this tab be different?

I'm just sayin'

Yep, I understand the 'consistency' factor,  just tweak your thinking that you are Saving,  just on the resources screen.
It does work correctly,  just presents a bit differently than expected.  But you'll get the logic after you've done a few.

I still would like to see the button!  :P

Just thinking about those that are doing this for the first time...keep it to a low level of thought.  :-\

Lotsa newbies here have enough trouble navigating around, this is like my 300+ rodeo!

As llegrand pointed out, at the point the media item is shown it is already saved and linked to the product (object)
Cancel button will not do much, unless we change the process of saving.

I agree, this section is inconsistent from some other, but we have update in coming 1.1.8 that helps with that a bit.

In general we want to improve resource library. I think I will create a post to discuss this after 1.1.8 is out.
