Do you mean Maintenance Mode?
Go to Admin-System-Settings-System tab (http://www.abantecart.com/ecommerce-documentation/50-admin-user-manual/system/settings#System%20Tab)

thanks ,however ,i wondered if it is easy to switch off the cart part so that it is just a brochure and has no facility to place order ,no add to cart .Is it possible to delete the button.This is until I get the payment side sorted out .
People could see what I sell but not order online yet?
