Title: 1.2 upgrade. Manufacturers no longer appear when adding products

After the upgrade to 1.2 the Manufacturers no longer appear when I am creating a product.  I can type in my own, but the ones saved under Manufacturers do not appear as a list.

This is strange. Check if cache directory and files are writable. Possibly cache can not be cleared.

Yes files are writeable and I cleared the cache again just now, still a big empty box in create products.  Also in edit.
