Title: How to reset admin password via SQL

Hi

I have been using Abantecart with the same username and password for around 2 months. Today it decided that the combination of username and password is not valid! I know there are hacks to get around this, but I want to know how to change the password via SQL Admin using the abc_Users table. I can see that there is a Password field with an encrypted password. Can I replace it with say "Password" ?

Try Forgot Password if you can not login

Thanks for the prompt reply and tips.

Forgot password is not working because it claims that I am not entering the verification code correctly. Tried about 10 times.

BTW I am running Abantecart 1.2.2.

I tried changing my password in SQL to "Password" and I still cannot login to my AbanteCart admin page.... It's crippling!

Try another browser. Can you please post what is your OS and browser version

Hi

I tried the RESET password link in IE and FF and it tells me the verification code is wrong. I tried the same in Chrome and it works fine. However I do not have my SMTP configured in ABanteCarte. Can I do this manually by editing some files via FTP?

Can you please post your operating system version?
About SMTP settings - all settings stored in database.

Hi

Personal PC which I use for FTP etc is on Win 7 x64

My site is hosted on CPanel with PHP 5.3

I'm wondering if it's just easier to revert to a backup from a week ago. But I will loose some of my config changes since the last backup.

Hi Basara

I edited my Forgot_Password.php file and changed $Password = 'Password'. I put the Forgot_Password.php file back to the FTP site. What should I do next?

The instructions say "Run reset password in admin and new password will be saved.". What does this mean?

This mean you need visit forgotten password page www.yoursite.com/index.php?rt=index/forgot_password&s=your_admin

and reset password

I reinstalled and restored my DB and content as best as I could.

PLEASE ensure you create an additional Admin account when you install AbanteCart. I have no idea how my default admin account password stopped working. The ebcrypted password looked exactly like my test site which had the same password - so baffled why it stopped working.
